openssh unix dev - Jul 2001 - Runtime problem with 2.9p2 on mips-dec-ultrix4.4

I got 2.9p2 compiled and mostly working on mips-dec-ultrix4.4 .

One problem I'm seeing when I try to ssh in to the box - I'm getting:

 sshd: error: open /dev/tty failed - could not set controlling tty: No such
device or address

out of sshd.

Anybody have any ideas?
