Question(s) about the new smxgate-66 with fedora 6 DomU
Hi all, I''ve try the installation of fedora 6 DomU successfuly, but I''ve some problems, so maybe you can help me. First : during the installation, the guest don''t find the NFS server when I use DHCP client, but it''s okay with an ip fix. Second : I use DHCP client for the guest (who gives me DNS informations, default gw and so on). But, the nslookup, ip resolution doesn''t work. I can ping my DNS servers, but that''s all. Third : If I halt the guest (with halt or shutdown), xm commands in Dom0 don''t work anymore. Ad event if I restart all xctl smf, I can''t reboot the guest. Any idea ? My computer doesn''t support HVM, so it''s just a PV guest... This message posted from opensolaris.org

Can you tell us about the configuration of your dom0 machine? What hardware it contains, etc. dme.

DNS from the DHCP response works fine from Fedora7 install and a Solaris and Fedora guest. I disable IPv6 on all my setups, but I don''t think that should matter either way.>> Third : If I halt the guest (with halt or shutdown), xm commands in >> Dom0 don''t work anymore. I had a somewhat similar issue that was caused (as far as I can tell) by somewhat shoddy ethernet drivers (or substandard ethernet chipset). The issue ended up being that the domU was expecting the hardware to fill in the checksums for IP and UDP traffic, but for some reason the hardware wasn''t doing so. As a workaround, David gave me a line to put in /etc/system on the domU to tell it not to offload the checksumming to the hardware. This fixed the issue for me. The line was: set xnf:xnf_cksum_offload = 0 Now, I''m not sure if this is the same issue you are having or not... If you want to try it, add that to /etc/system in the domU and reboot the domU.

I should have waited until after my first coffee. My bad. There are similar things that can likely be done on the Linux side if needed though, should that somehow be the actual issue. That being said, I think I''ll get back to my coffee. Pardon me for being a bonehead :)
