LightDM - May 2020 - Restore windows on restart?

Hi,

I'm running a single GPU passthrough setup on elementaryOS (which uses
lightdm), and switching the GPU from linux to the windows VM requires me to
shutdown lightdm.

It works great, but when restarting lightdm, all my applications are
closed. I am just wondering if lightdm supports reopening windows that were
previously open across reboots or similar? If so, i could reuse that to
work with my VM usecase.

I suggest to take another look at possibilities to improve the software
situation
around applications of the X session management protocol.
