Hi - I'm currently researching possible implementations of a streaming Ogg server for use with DarkIce to reencode live radio traffic for streaming simulcast. DarkIce claims support for IceCast2, which supports streaming Ogg-vorbis media. The only sticking point I'm running into -- it's been damned near impossible to find anything more than mere scraps of information about the state of IceCast2. How mature is it? What's the CVS path to snag a copy? Anybody run it in a production environment yet? I've been running it in "production" for about week now and just had a problem earlier today with icecast disconnecting a "lame" stream. I haven't yet investigated it. Check out the following URLs for info on grabbing everything you need: http://www.xiph.org/cvs.html http://www.xiph.org/archives/icecast/2870.html You should also check the mailing list archives for information before posting to the list. You can get it from xiph.org cvs, module 'icecast' (read HACKING for further instructions). People do run it in production systems. We intend to do a release soon. I've done checkouts from CVS as outlined on the page. Checking out module 'icecast' from cvs.icecast.org and then executing ./autogen.sh causes the icecast code to indicate "Building icecast-1.3.12..." and there is no HACKING file in sight. Is the icecast2 source on another branch? Another module? I'm having the damnedest time finding the active development branch...
