Hi all. Why don't Asterisk support inband DTMF with G729? Is there a way to do that!? Are you using RFC2833? Doesn't it a security hole? Thanks. Denis.

Any inband DTMF data will be essentially useless by the time it gets encoded.> Are you using RFC2833? Doesn't it a security hole?Sorry, don't know if I quite get your point here. Care to expound on what you're talking about? Matthew Fredrickson

Why don't Asterisk support inband DTMF with G729? Is there a way to do that!? Are you using RFC2833? Doesn't it a security hole? Thanks. Denis. =================================================================================================== It's a long story.. It's all about bandwidth, Maximum accepted frequency offset, Minimum rejected frequency offset, Timing, Twists, and Signal to Noise Ratio. It is difficult to meet the ITU standards once it gets mangled through the g.729 codec. It's just not possible to reliably send continuous tones (which include DTMF) over a lossy voice codec such as g729, sorry. -A.

Andrew, I'm just looking for the most quality/security solution to use Asterisk with G729, ok?! I think this is good for all of us. Thanks. Denis.
