[Xen-users] Missing /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm in xen-4.0.1-0.2.fc13.src.rpm
Xen Users, When trying to install a 64-bit Fedora 13 HVM on 64-bit Xen 4.0.1, built using the xen-4.0.1-0.2.fc13.src.rpm from http://pasik.reaktio.net, virt-install complains that it cannot find /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm. This is not surprising, since there is no corresponding emulator file in the BUILD/xen-4.0.1/dist directory structure, just the 32-bit lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm file. Has anyone else seen this problem, or should I tinker with the .spec file myself? Sincerely, John ---- What is the formal meaning of the one-line program #include "/dev/tty" J.P. Re: [Xen-users] Missing /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm in xen-4.0.1-0.2.fc13.src.rpm
Boris, Thanks for the quick response. I am using the same kernel; it builds and works great but no X11 on the target box. When I use simple copy and then virt-install --vnc I get an out of memory error (which I think is due to --vnc not being a good choice for FC13 on pvops, not a qemu-dm issue?) and when I try --nographics I get garbage and a hung process in the xterm. If I look at my serial terminal at the same time, I see a string of hypervisor error messages about HVM2: int13_harddisk: function 02, ELDL out of range 8f (and similar). I think my best choice at this point is to try another box. Some of our own SuSE 11.1 based hypervisor code that runs well on most of our development platforms does not like this particular machine I am trying for my first 4.0.1 pvops reference system. I suspect this box has some issues with its local graphics processor. I am giving up on this for the weekend. I will try a few more things next week and write if I learn anything interesting. Otherwise, I think its a bug caused by the specific hardware that I am trying to use. I don''t think I am generating any more useful data here. Re: [Xen-users] Missing /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm in xen-4.0.1-0.2.fc13.src.rpm
Hello Pasi, As far as I can tell, yes the package builds properly. I installed following Boris'' directions, which again have always been totally correct, as far as I can tell. The "missing" qemu-dm issue is probably due to some distros using a separate lib64 directory while others do not. I spent about 10 minutes looking around in tools/ioemu-qemu-xen, but saw nothing that would tell me how to select lib64 for install. Running #file qemu-dm shows a 64-bit binary in dist/install/usr/lib/xen/bin, so the build seems to be doing the right thing; its just install that is not getting the right directory for a Fedora distro? The target box was formerly used for developing our own hypervisor code, but any stray settings from that were overwritten (I hope) by formatting the drives during installation of F13. Re: [Xen-users] Missing /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm in xen-4.0.1-0.2.fc13.src.rpm
I would escalate question to xen-devel , regarding 2.6.32.21 pvops support yours video adapter under 4.0.1. I cannot find it on the list http://wiki.xen.org/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM Just in case , try nopat in kernel line. When I run udevadm --version I get 153.
