[Xen-users] Easy way to remove GPLPV drivers version 0.9.10?
I have a new server built on SLES10SP2. None of my domU''s from my SLES10SP1 host will start. They just sit at the Windows 2003 title screen with the bar scrolling. I have a forum thread open on Novell''s forums. The guy says it''s likely that the GPLPV drivers are causing the problem, since their VMDP drivers cause a similar issue. So I want to try and uninstall them to see if it helps. I tried the uninstall found in All Programs, but that didn''t work, at least not completely. I also removed /GPLPV from the boot.ini, but they still seem to load. Is there anyway to remove these without manually going through the registry? Does anyone believe this could be the problem? I have sles domU''s that will not load X correctly. If I boot them to init3 they boot up. So it''s not just windows. Not sure what''s going on, but I''m totally frustrated now. Really want to get to a more recent version of xen, but I can''t get any of my domU''s to work. Company standard is sles, so I''m stuck there. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks, James _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I think there is a readme file in the gplpv install that documents how to remove, but you do need to poke around in the registry.> > Is there anyway to remove these without manually going through the > registry? > > Does anyone believe this could be the problem? I found my win2k3 image with no gplpv drivers and it loads fine on my sles10sp2 server. I found my doc for removing gplpv manually, but my first attempt creating a machine that bsod''s immediately. Any suggestions or thing you want me to try? Should I try installing the latest? i don''t know if that is enough for macosx but please be aware of the fact that you need at least ~2GB for a linux installation with graphical support. so you might only have 7-6 gb depending on the size of your swap partition.. infact i don''t know if it''s possible to virtualize mac os x since it might be very hardware specific. ----- Ursprüngliche Mail ---- Von: don rhummy <donrhummy@yahoo.com> An: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Gesendet: Dienstag, den 9. Hi Venefax, First, as root in a shell on your dom0, run a "brctl show" and paste the contents to the list. Second, (device (vif (mac 00:16:3e:2c:88:81) (uuid 837dcbd1-61ab-fc78-a0f1-f8679e4688d9) ) ) Should look more like this: (device (vif (bridge eth0) (mac 00:16:3e:2c:88:81) (script vif-bridge) (uuid 837dcbd1-61ab-fc78-a0f1-f8679e4688d9) (backend 0) ) ) ... RE: [Xen-users] Easy way to remove GPLPV drivers version 0.9.10?
James, No joy on this. Following the doc I get the same bsod immediately on reboot. Details on each step: Done * Open regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet Not found * Alter Enum\ACPI_HAL\PNP0C08\0\Control\ActiveService from "XenHide" to "ACPI" * You may find some registry keys/values need you to alter permissions before you can edit/delete them. None found * Search for all occurences of UpperFilter or LowerFilter keys containing xenhide.sys and delete them Done * Delete Services\Xen* (anything in Services starting with Xen) * Beware of keys/values which "co-incidentally" have xen in their name such as xenroll.dlll and IVBSAXEntityResolver * Don''t remove any "Xen" keys/values under HKLM/HARDWARE/ACPI Done * View files C:\Windows\inf\oem*.?nf in a text editor, delete all that refer to xen or GPLPV - deleted all oem?... Done * Delete the folders C:\Windows\System32\DRVSTORE\xen* Done * Delete the files C:\Windows\System32\drivers\xen*.sys Done * Reboot, making sure not to select a boot entry that specifies /GPLPV, if you are prompted to add drivers for new hardware at this stage, Any other suggestions? RE: [Xen-users] Easy way to remove GPLPV drivers version 0.9.10?
James, Just wanted to give you an update on this. I finally got all my other domU''s moved so I could try more things. Updating my test machine to the latest released GPLPV drivers seemed to do the trick. I was able to move it to sles10sp2 and it booted up.
