Hi, Thanks to everyone so for all their help. I am still unsure about the best way to get Xen installed. If I install from the standard yum repos I get Xen 3.1 installed. As my host is AMD Opteron X86_64 SMP I believe that I need to use Xen 3.2. Am I correct in thinking this ? Due to the dependencies I cannot just remove xen and xen-libs as it also gets rid of libvirt. Therefore, would I be best to install everything from source ? yum install kernel-xen xen libvirt virt-manager It would pick up the latest version which is 3.1. --Sadique Riccardo Veraldi wrote:> > sorry can you tell me where to find these rpm xen3.1 for CentOS ? > > Rick > > Sadique Puthen ha scritto: >> --[ UxBoD ]-- wrote: >>> Hi, >>> >>> Thanks to everyone so for all their help. >>> >>> I am still unsure about the best way to get Xen installed. Purely from other forums where people were having issues with the X86_64 platform. Will give it a go then. Does anybody know when 3.2 will make it into CentOS ? -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

The biggest issue is that XenSource does not guarentee ABI compatability between the HV & userspace between major releases. --Sadique _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Actually, C5.0 works nice, but 5.1 is a big improvement, including support for 32-on-64. RHEL 5.1 and CentOS 5.1 should be fine, according to my experience with them. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
I am running 3.1 currently but as pointed out it has some issues with PV X86 guest hosts on a X86_64 Dom-0. I have compiled the 3.2 source code so can I just install it over the top ?
