HI All, Can anyone tell me if they''ve succeeded in getting Xen 3.0 to work on OpenSUSE 10.0 please? I''ve installed the latest rpms by kraxel but whenever I start a DomU I get the following error: Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working. I''ve googled several references to this error but found no solutions. Or no solutions that I understood. I''d be very grateful for any insight anyone can give me. (FWIW, I''ve got Xen 2.0.7 working fine on SUSE 9.3) Thanks, Steve. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Hotplug scripts not working.I never worked with 2.0 which you mention later, but I think there have been some changes to the scripts. So you migt need to apply your settings to the newer xend config file and change your domU preferences file. Mentioning udev, there is something to pay attention to for suse as a domU: http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Installing_Xen3&diff=15145&oldid=13274 I have experimented with the networking in xen in the past weeks and recall that I did get this error when the vif could not be attached to the bridge. The xen guest config file I''ve been using contains a MAC address for the domU guest which should prevent the problem with udev. The error being: Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working. Can anyone give me the steps they went through to install OpenSUSE and Xen on their hardware so I try doing the same thing please? I also did a documentation for myself, but it is in german. If you want to have it, just mail me. What is the "classic way of setting up network"? (no network manager in Yast) 2. Where do I set the STARTMODE of ifplugd? I can see an IFPLUGD_OPTIONS option in /etc/sysconfig/network/config which is currently set to "-f -I". Is this the correct option to use set the ONBOOT parameter?
