Hello, I try to compile xen on a SuSE 9.1 host with kernel 2.6 and gcc 3.3.3. make all and make linux26 work with no problems, but make linxu24 fails with errors about redefining some symbols. If I do make linux24 on a SuSE 9.0 host with kernel 2.4 and gcc 3.3.1 then it works. Is this normal or not ? My idea is, to have domain0 and domain1 with kernel 2.6 and domain2 with kernel 2.4. I thinks this should be possible. Linux is sensitive to GCC version. It may well be that it doesn''t work well with gcc-3.3.3. And yes -- you can run entirely different Linux versions in different domains. -- Keir> Hello, > > I try to compile xen on a SuSE 9.1 host with kernel 2.6 and gcc 3.3.3. > > make all and make linux26 work with no problems, but make linxu24 fails > with errors about redefining some symbols. > > If I do make linux24 on a SuSE 9.0 host with kernel 2.4 and gcc 3.3.1 > then it works. > > Is this normal or not ? > > My idea is, to have domain0 and domain1 with kernel 2.6 and domain2 with > kernel 2.4. Personally I''ve had the best luck when using gcc-3.2 on kernel compiles. I''ve run into too many glitches with specific drivers and 3rd party modules with gcc-3.3 when I have used it.
