[Wine] Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
I want to install Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1(japanese disk). I have copied OLEAUT32.DLL of install disk to .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ . However, is displayed as "OLEAUT32.DLL is not incompatible", fail to install. Why do Wine fail to install? PC:HP Compaq 8510w CPU:Intel Core2 Duo 2.5GHz Memory:4GB OS:openSUSE 12.1 x86-64 japanese, KDE4.7.2, nvidia driver, ja_JP.utf8 Wine:1.4-2.1 (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:Wine/openSUSE_12.1/)

It is not needed for Office 2000. AFAIK, the only native dll that is needed to install Office 2000 is mfc42, and you can install that with winetricks.

I have copied the native OLEAUT32.DLL so. This way has been reported in several blog in Japan. Previously I was able to install in this way. (openSUSE 12.1 32bit, Wine 1.4-rc4) Is this way wrong?

Sorry. I was wrong. It was displayed with "OLEAUT32.DLL is incompatible version" I installed mfc42.dll using Winetricks. I set it in winecfg to use OLEAUT32 of the native. But failed to install.

Hi Nokami, which kind of Windows emulation did you set in winecfg? Probably something like 2000 or XP would be preferable. Maybe you should start with a clean wineprefix (move/rename .wine folder, a new .wine folder will be created by wine when run again) and reinstall Office 2000. Would you be able to install an english version of Office 2000?
