It's the first time I try wine on Mac. I am using the recent XQuartz 2.7.0 for X11 and I run OSX 10.6.8. Since I am getting similar errors I thought that someone perhaps has an idea... Thanks!

However, before doing that, ensure that you are using XQuartz's X11 and not Apple's. By the look of the error messages it appears that you were using Apple's but I could be seriously incorrect. Which X11 Icon did you use to start the program and did you reboot your Mac after installing? (XQuartz recommends this, at least they did for 2.6.x and SnowLeopard.) James
