[theora] ffmpeg2theora 0.25 synchronization issues when converting from .mov
Has anyone noticed this? I have a video made with Final Cut Pro, which I convert to .mov via Compressor. This .mov file plays back fine in Quicktime. But when I then use ffmpeg2theora to convert to ogv, the video seems to play back too fast compared to the audio (I'm using VLC 1.0.2, the latest I believe, to play back the ogv file, and I also have an app that uses the recently released libtheora 1.1, and I see the same sped-up video as with VLC). I'm wondering if it's a known problem, or if I'm the first to see this.

I solved that issue by importing the mjpeg avi into kino and saving as dv and then using ffmpeg2theora. I assume by .mov you mean h.264 w/ AAC ?? What happens when you export from FCP to mpeg2 and then run ffmpeg2theora on that? For the record, I've not had any problems using older libtheora based players on ogv made with latest ffmpeg2theora.

Yes, I have the same problem. I have tested versions 0.24 and 0.25. Please see thread "[theora] Accelerated video output with ffmpeg2theora 0.24" in the archives of this mailing list. I have an AVI container with this stream: Stream #0.0: Video: rawvideo, yuyv422, 720x576, 25.02 tbr, 25.02 tbn, 25.02 tbc Regards, JJ Andrew Chew [andrew at okashistudios.com] kirjoitti:> Has anyone noticed this? I tried to find a binary of ffmpeg2theora 0.15 for Linux, but all I could find was ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe from http://www.videohelp.com/download/ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe so I decided to try with it using Wine. However, I was not able to convert my test files at all. In the first case no streams were found and in the second case the video stream was not converted. Am I missing some options perhaps??? Or is it the Wine? $ wine ../Download/ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe 196X\ Juhani\ pienen?\ LAAJEMPI\ VERSIO.AVI Input #0, avi, from '196X Juhani pienen LAAJEMPI VERSIO.AVI': Duration: 00:01:59.5, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 109973 kb/s Stream #0.0: Video: YUY2, 720x576, 25.02 fps Resize: 720x576 No video or audio stream found $ wine ../Download/ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe 2002-05-23\ Juho\ prinssin?.AVI Input #0, avi, from '2002-05-23 Juho prinssin.AVI': Duration: 00:02:36.7, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 107321 kb/s Stream #0.0: Video: YUY2, 720x576, 25.00 fps Stream #0.1: Audio: pcm_s16le, 48000 Hz, stereo, 1536 kb/s Resize: 720x576 Resample: 48000Hz => 44100Hz 0:02:36.76 audio: 79kbps video: 0kbps Regards, JJ Jason Self [jason.self at gmail.com] kirjoitti:> I have completed my regression testing: ffmpeg2theora version 0.15 > does not appear to exhibit this problem, although version 0.17 does. The URLs seem to follow a predictable pattern, so http://v2v.cc/~j/ffmpeg2theora/ffmpeg2theora-0.16.linux.bin.bz2 grabs 0.16 for example. A similiar thing can be done for 0.17.

While doubtful that it might have happened, it would regardless be interesting to know if there was any difference in the output from the Linux and Windows binaries. -Ivo On 10/4/09, Jason Self <jason.self at gmail.com> wrote:> On Sun, Oct 4, 2009 at 12:00 PM, Juhani Jaakola > <juhani.jaakola at kolumbus.fi> wrote: >> I tried to find a binary of ffmpeg2theora 0.15 for Linux, but all I could >> find was ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe from >> http://www.videohelp.com/download/ffmpeg2theora-0.15.exe so I decided to >> try with it using Wine. > > A Linux binary of 0.15 is available at

The output from Linux and Windows binaries were identical. So I could not convert either of my two test cases with version 0.15. I may just try to install Quicktime 7 on Snow Leopard and go back to using the Xiph Quicktime Components to do my video conversions. I notice that the last official build is 0.1.9, released on 6/14/2009. Is there a more recent build using libtheora 1.1 available?

Latest one does have libtheora built into it.

http://people.xiph.org/~arek/ But I agree - a new release would be a good idea. Cheers, Silvia.
