Help With Post-hoc Testing
I am trying to do post-hoc tests associated with a repeated measures analysis with on factor nested within respondents. The factor (SOI) has 17 levels. The overall testing is working fine, but I can''t seem to get the multiple comparisons to work. The first step is to "stack" the data. Then I used "lme" to specify and test the overall model. Finally

random section of samples based on group membership
Hi all, I have a matrix of 474 rows (samples) with 565 columns (variables). each of the 474 samples belong to one of 120 groups, with the groupings as a column in the above matrix. For example, the group column would be: 1 1 1 2 2 2 . . . 120 120 I want to randomly select one from each group. Not all the groups have the same number of samples, some have 4, some 3 etc. Is there a function to

Creating two new variables conditional on retaining values from previous rows
Hello, Iam looking for an R solution that can efficiently produce the output shown below. I can produce this easily in SAS with retain statement and a few lines of if-then-else logic, etc.. but I am not find anything similar on the Rforum archives. Below is the logic I am trying to apply to produce the output table below. Thanks in any help! if the ID is the first ID encountered then group=1 and

Week value function
Hi R users, I am looking for a date function that will give the following: - The number-of-week value is in the range 01-53 - Weeks begin on a Monday and week 1 of the year is the week that includes both January 4th and the first Thursday of the year. If the first Monday of January is the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, the preceding days are part of the last week of the preceding

Help : glm p-values for a factor predictor
Hello, i am a newby on R and i am trying to make a backward selection on a binomial-logit glm on a large dataset (69000 lines for 145 predictors). After 3 days working, the stepAIC function did not terminate. I do not know if that is normal but i would like to try computing a "homemade" backward with a repeated glm ; at each step, the predictor with the max pvalue would be

Help : glm p-values for a factor predictor
It might help if you provided the code you used. It's possible that you didn't use direction="backward" in stepAIC(). Or if you did, it was still running, so whatever else you try will still be slow. The statement "R provides only the pvalues for each level" is wrong: look at the anova() function. Bob On 29 June 2017 at 11:13, Beno?t PELE <benoit.pele at

confusion on levels() function, and how to assign a wanted order to factor levels, intentionally?
Dear R-helpers, I want to make a series of boxplots on several numeric univariates with two group variables (species and population, population nested in species, and with population as the X-axis). In order to get a proper order of the individual populations in X-axis, I need to assign a wanted order to the factor (population). I used the levels() function to do this assignment, but it seemed

x tick labels - sparse?
Hi, I'm stuck on creating a plot with x tick labels for every Nth tick mark - how is that done? I don't see a simple solution to this in help(plot) or help(par) and what I've tried is not working, eg, the following does not work, although it seems intuitive to me that it should work: x <- seq(-100,1000,25) y <- x * x % find all the x values that are multiples of 100 tmp <-
