confused with yearmon, xts and maybe zoo
R-listers, I am using xts with a yearmon index, but am getting some inconsistent results with the date index when i drop observations (for example by using na.omit). The issue is illustrated in the example below. If I start with a monthly zooreg series starting in 2009, yearmon converts this to "Dec-2008". Not such a worry for my example, but strange. Having converted to xts, i drop

Plyr and memory allocation issue
Dear R users I am trying to create some new variables for a 4401 x 30 dataframe using ddply and transform. The "id" variable i am using is a factor with 1330 levles eg bb <- function(df) {transform(df, years = study.year - min(study.year) + 1, periods = length(study.year) )} test <- ddply(x,.(id),bb) I havent copied the data to avoid clogging the

Downloading Excel file & reading a range
I am trying to figure out a way to download an Excel file and then read a range into R - so that i can have a reasonably automated process. I have been trying to use the RODBC package, but with little success. I suspect that this isnt the right route Here is some code. My aim is to read in the data starting in H69:H283 in sheet 2.

ggplot & annotating charts
Dear "R-listers" I've been trying to figure out how to annotate charts in ggplot (ie add text to line charts, highlighted boxes etc). By and large, I can get close to what i want with base graphics, but would ideally like to use ggplot whenever possible (additionally, i would like to add text labels automatically to the chart). The code is below I suspect I need to use geom_rect,

Modelling compound logistic growth curves
Motivated by the discovery of 'loglet analysis' (http://phe.rockefeller.edu/LogletLab/) that allows one to decompose growth curves into a series of logistic equations, I attempted to do the same thing in R. SIMULATED DATA Time <- 1:200 pop.size <- SSlogis(Time,10,20,5) + SSlogis(Time,20,100,20) + rnorm(length(Time)) MY ANALYSIS results <- nls(size ~ SSlogis(Time, Asym1, xmid1,

Read & name multiple excel sheets using RODBC
I'd like to be able to read multiple sheets from an excel workbook and use the sheet name to name the resulting dataframe using RODBC. at the moment i've figured out how to do it the long way (see below) but feel sure that there is a speedier & possibly automatic way to do it in R. i've tried to run a loop using sqlTables but it seemed to break the connection. unless i've

limit sharing ability to certain users
Thanks Sami, thanks Aki I just updated the packages on our testing server and now it works like expected. There are some LDAP tests to come. Are there many productive server out there using this repository? text matching and substitution
I am trying to simplify a text variable by matching and replacing it with a string in another vector so for example in colours <- paste(letters,colours(),"stuff",LETTERS) find and replace with ("red","blue","green","gray","yellow","other") - irrespective of case its a large dataset, so i'd like to be able to do this

[LLVMdev] How to get the string value?
Hey Duncan, Thanks! I figured out this piece of code finally: Value *gep = call->getArgOperand(0); if ( ConstantExpr *pCE = dyn_cast<ConstantExpr>(gep) ) { Value *firstop = pCE->getOperand(0); if (GlobalVariable *GV = dyn_cast<GlobalVariable>(firstop)){ Constant *v = GV->getInitializer(); if

cumulative growth rates indexed to a common starting point over n series of observations
What is the R way of computing cumulative growth rates given a series of discrete values indexed . For instance, given a matrix of 20 observations for each of 5 series (zz), what is the most straight forward technique in R for computing cumulative growth (zzcum) ? It seems for the solution I'm after might be imbedding the following cum growth rate calc as a function into a function call

[LLVMdev] How to get the name and argument of a function

New wireless controller
I just installed an Asus PCE-n13 wireless card into one of my CentOS 5.6 systems. It uses the RaLink 2680 chip set and I was able to get the driver loaded using modprobe rt2x00pci.ko. I saw no error and now see that the module is loaded along with mac80211 and other dependencies. Now I need to know how to create the wlan0 device. I can find nothing via Google searches on how to create that

translating HTML character entities to accented characters
I've imported a .csv file where character strings that contained accented characters were written as HTML character entities. Is there a function that works on a vector to translate them back to accented (latin1) characters? You could do userdb { ?? driver = username_format=%Lu passwd-file ?? args = /etc/dovecot/share.passwd } #? /etc/dovecot/share.passwd test at onnet.ch::::::: userdb_acl=vfile:/etc/dovecot/dovecot-acl userdb_acl_globals_only = yes should prevent the user from modifying any ACL files. Can you provide your doveconf -n after adding the database *after* LDAP. You probably need to add 'noauthenticate' as one parameter after the userdb ones. Okay, this seems to be due to the fact that the option ?use_globals_only" is supported only in v2.2.31+ We are on Debian jessie with dovecot v2.2.13 ? even an upgrade to current stable stretch won?t help (dovecot v2.2.27). So we will wait until the packages find their way into the repository. thanks anyway > On 7 Aug 2018, at 13:00, Simeon Ott <simeon.ott at onnet.ch> wrote: >

OrcJIT + CUDA Prototype for Cling
Hi Lang, thank You very much. I've used Your code and the creating of the object file works. I think the problem is after creating the object file. When I link the object file with ld I get an executable, which is working right. After changing the clang and llvm libraries from the package control version (.deb) to a own compiled version with debug options, I get an assert() fault. In void
