Inversing a non-monotonic spline
I have developed a GAM model in order to predict Y using 4 X variables. 2 of these X's are factors, and 1 is a spline. translating R code to C code
I would like to try to implement a big series of nested loops in a C code and then call it from R; however I'm not familiar with C programming. Does anyone know about some sort of reference I can use that help me to translate my code to C? (I'm thinking on something like to Octave to R reference posted in CRAN) thanks PM

translate octave code to R
Hello, I'd like to translate de code below, write in octave, to R. I'm learning to operate R a few time ago, and an example of translation will be useful for me. This code is my lectures in an undergraduate course of statistical computing. echo off; k=0; while (k<>1) n = input('a prime: '); D = 2; r = n - D * floor((n/D)); while((D <= sqrt(n) & (r <>

translate SAS code
good morning, I have some SAS code to translate in R code and when I export data from Excel to R I have to read formula writed as follow C604=(C181/S181)*(100-C182)*(100/85) or if C325=. then C740=(C346/C103)*100| else C740=(C346/C325)*100 I find some difficulties to write a good program to read and calculate these formulas there are several kinds of formulas there are with conditional and

New package test results available
We've added a column at http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_summary.html of test results using the Sun Studio compiler: it is intended that these will be updated weekly. The Sun Studio compiler is that used on Solaris: these runs were on the Linux version. All the other platforms are using gcc 4, so this provides an opportunity for checking for use of gcc-specific features and

New version 0.9-7 of lars package
I uploaded a new version of the lars package to CRAN, which incorporates some nontrivial changes. 1) lars now has normalize and intercept options, both defaulted to TRUE, which means the variables are scaled to have unit euclidean norm, and an intercept is included in the model. Either or both can be set to FALSE. 2) lars has an additional type = "stepwise" option; now the list is

lots of warnings from translate.c
We have a couple of servers with asterisk 1.4.19 and zaptel 1.4.10, acting as gateways from SIP to ISDN PRI interfaces. Each has one Digium TE420 (with hardware echo cancellation) and one TC400B for transcoding, in order to handle 60/90 contemporary calls in peak hours. In my logs there are hundreds of thousand warnigs per day like these: transcode.c: no samples for lintoulaw transcode.c:

R-beta: "smooth sbezier" blew up too much data, need code
Hello All, I am in need of sample code to create gnuplot's sbezier output in numerical form. Below are some details of what I have done. I just fed 2000 lines of data to the above gplot script and it seg faulted, when I cut the data down it down it worked fine. The results are very good for the purpose, which is to give a guestimation as to what fills the spaces between the exceptions.

translate formula into R code
Hello, I am trying to implement the following formula using for loops and vectors. I am sure you can use some fancy R code to solve this but I would like to keep it simple and stick to for and vector/array if that is possible. TP = 200; RL = 50; TPR1 = TP - RL; TPR2 = TP + RL; PPO = 0; LSS = 0.1; counter = 1; for(i in res) { # Even if(counter %% 2 == 1) { ls = abs((sum(LSS)* TP)) /

How to translate a dataframe into the R code that makes that dataframe?
Hi, I am helping another R user (off list) and I would like to email her an R script containing the data she needs and the code to solve her problem. I have made a small dummy dataset, but instead of sending her a CSV I would prefer to send the data embedded in the script, so there would be a like in the script like: my.df<-c( etc, etc, etc I have made the dataframe (in a spreadsheet) and

.C and .Call: convolve example not working
Dear R users, I want to call C code via the .C or .Call interface. This works fine with integer values but using doubles the array received in C will be set to zeros. I have tried the convolve examples (Writing R extensions, chapter 5.2) and still the resulting array consists of zeros. My code (shortened for my purposes. Original did not work either):

Lars package
Hi,   I'm using lars package to run some regression analysis and my doubt now is how can I predict my model to another dataset? Let me explain a little better: I have a dataset from which I withhold some data. With the data that wasn't withheld, I create the model. Now, what I'm not being able to do is apply the model back to the data that I withheld. Any suggestions?   Here it goes
