Agnes in Cluster Package and index.G1 in the clusterSim package questions
Dear R Users: I am new to R and I am trying to do a cluster analysis on a single continuous variable using the Agnes [Agglomerative Nesting (Hierarchical Clustering) ] in the Package ‘cluster’. I was able to apply this clustering method to my data: ward1 <- Agnes(balances, diss= FALSE, metric = "euclidean", stand = TRUE, method = "ward", keep.diss =TRUE, keep.data =

How-To extract data from a matrix of lists subject to a set of given constraints
My goal is to store the DWT coefficients from a number of time series in such a way to be able to extract subsets satisfying giben conditions. I have defined the following 11 matrices whose x-axis represent time intervals and y-axis represent the number of time series: MS <- 11 d1.mat <- matrix (data=list(), nrow=TotNumCycles, ncol=2^(MS-1)) d2.mat <- matrix (data=list(),

Help with identify() points on a PAM clusplot
I created a clusplot from PAM results. It represents how signals have been classified. Signals are identified by a numerical label. My trial distance matrix is made up of 10 rows, one for eacjh signal. I assigned the signals iidentifiers as rownames of the distance matrix. rwn [1] "1104" "1332" "2057" "2425" "2483" "2530"

hypot(x,y) instead of pythag(a,b) ?!
Some of you may have seen the pythag() part in the R API definition in "Writing R Extensions" (source = doc/manual/R-exts.texinfo). or followed the report and Prof. Brian Ripley's answer about pythag()'s availability from R's binary. As we say in above manual >> `pythag(A, B)' computes `sqrt(A^2 + B^2)' without overflow or >> destructive

Difference between DAHDI/G1/0123456789 and DAHDI/g1/0123456789
Hello, Groups in asterisk are summarized here ( http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Channels+and+Groups). Is there any difference between DAHDI/G1/0123456789 and DAHDI/g1/0123456789 (as I've been advised in another thread, to switch from one notation to the other and I can't see the reason behind that) ? [LLVMdev] Implementing minimal debug info (-g1?) for Clang
Hi! Currently Clang "-g" flag emits full debug info, which is fine for debugging, but increases the binary size significantly. It may be useful to produce less debug info, that is still enough for collecting nice stack traces with file names and line numbers, but would introduce less overhead. Cary Coutant made a patch which does this for GCC (it didn't hit trunk yet) - reduces

[LLVMdev] Possible bug in the linear scan register allocator
Hi, I was working on extending soft-float support for handling expansion of i64 and f64 into i16, i.e. on supporting the expansion of long values of illegal types into more then two parts. For that I modified SelectionDAGLowering::getValue() and several other functions. This seems to work now on my test-cases, but while testing it I ran into a different problem. I have the impression that I

Looping and Pasting
Hello R-community: Much of the time I want to use loops to look at graphs, etc. For example, I have 25 plots, for which the names are m.1$medoids, m.2$medoids, ..., m.25$medoids. I want to index the object number (1:25) as below (just to show concept). for (i in 1:25){ plot(m.i$medoids) } I've tried the following, with negative results for ...

Sweave in packages
Dear R folks, One of the fantastic new tools in R is `Sweave'. I have tested it so much that I know it works and produces fine documentation, and with (GNU) Emacs/ESS it is nice to work with, too. I started to have a look at including some Swoven (is that a strong verb?) documentation with my R package, but it seems that there is no model to copy among those packages that I have installed in

bug (?!) in "pam()" clustering from fpc package ?
Hello all. I wish to run k-means with "manhattan" distance. Since this is not supported by the function "kmeans", I turned to the "pam" function in the "fpc" package. Yet, when I tried to have the algorithm run with different starting points, I found that pam ignores and keep on starting the algorithm from the same starting-points (medoids). For my
