Fatal error: unable to restore saved data in .RData
Hello,
I am unable to start an R session by double-clicking on an existing
.RData file from the Windoze file explorer.
A dialogue appears with the message
"Fatal error: unable to restore saved data in .RData",
and I notice in the R Console the last few lines are:
"Loading required package: R2HTML

Hmisc Dotplot with confidence intervals and panel.points problem
Hello useRs,
I have a question regarding the function Dotplot from the Hmisc package: I want two things:
1) confidence intervals around the dots
2) some additional "annotation" points plotted in the graphic
I can easily achieve (1) by constructing an appropriate object with Cbind. But for (2) when I use the panel=function argument the confidence intervals of the original plot are gone.

nls with plinear and function on RHS
Dear R gurus,
As part of finding initial values for a much more complicated fit I want to
fit a function of the form y ~ a + bx + cx^d to fairly "noisy" data and have
hit some problems.
To demonstrate the specific R-related problem, here is an idealised data
set, smaller and better fitting than reality:
# idealised data set
aDF <- data.frame( x= c(1.80, 9.27, 6.48, 2.61, 9.86,

YALAQ - Yet Another LApply Question
Hello,
Two lapply questions (system info and sample data below):
1) Why does the first form of command1 add the name of y _after_ the
str() output rather than before as does the second (preferred) form?
# command1 version1
invisible(lapply(ls(pattern='bn'), function(y) cat(y, "\n",
str(get(y)), "\n") ))

have included rJava as part of my R package libraries.
Now I need to be able to work with some R functions from my Java apps. I'm
using NetBeans on Windows.
I have followed some instructions from http://www.rforge.net/JRI/
but i keep on getting errors when compiling my Java app as follows:

Simple R (in Sweave) Question
I am writing a report using Sweave with specific R output incorporated into
the text using the Sexpr{} command. I have run into two specific issues:
1) If the result inside the Sexpr{} command is an integer less than 10 I
would like to print the ?word? for that number ? e.g., ?seven? for 7.
2) If a p-value is ?equal to zero? to some arbitrary number of decimal

ldBands (Hmisc)
All,
I'm getting the same error message as that discussed in a previous post (Feb
3, 2006). The reply to that post was to insure that the ld98 program was in
the system path (as also suggested in the help on ldBands). I have done
this but this does not change the result. Any advice much appreciated.

r-cran-rjava dependencies on debian jesse, library(rJava) fails when default-jre is missing
Hi,
Dirk Eddelbuettel advised me to write here. Here is my original letter to him:
I would like to enquire about package r-cran-rjava on Debian jesse. It seems that if default-jre package is not installed, but openjdk-7-jre is installed, then library(rJava) in R fails. I?ve been bitten by this today and I wonder whether this an issue of mine, or is this a possible bug.

Problems with xlsx and rjava
Hi,
I keep getting the below error regarding rJava which is required by package xlsx (I have used it in the past to directly import data from Excel 2010).
I was on R version 2.15.0 when I was getting this error this morning. So I upgraded to 2.15.1 but still the same problem. I tried unstalling and reinstalling xlsx and even rJava directly from the source as indicated here:

I may be wrong, but I experiencing exactly the problems mentioned at
