beanplot without log scale?
Is it possible to force beanplot not to use a log scale? I want to be able to create multiple beanplots of different data on the same specified y-axis. Help with beanplot fromatting
Dear Helpful R Users, I am graphing some data using the beanplot, but I am having trouble getting the output I desire. I have five tanks (A-E) and 2 groups for each tank grp1 or grp2, except tank C where there is only grp1. (I only changed the grouprep to "C grp1" for the example) When I plot them, I would like A B C(only grp1 - half of the bean plot) then D and E (as full beans).

Help: Beanplots calculating wrong average
Hi there, I have a set of data that looks like this: As1988<-c(1254.0, 22.0, 4.2, 1081.0, 35.0, 6.0, 1772.0, 192.0, 7.6) The mean of this (as calculated by R) is: 485.9778 The median of this (as calculated by R) is: 35 If I then make a beanplot(As1988), I find that the beanline (average) is now 77.68561 while the beanline (median) is 35.39739 (using the locator function to check the

Shapiro-Wilk cpoefficients: 2 Qs

I want to have the coefficients that R uses in shapiro.test() for the Shapiro-Wilk test for a prticular sample size, i.e. the a[i] in W = Sum(a[i]*x[i])/(Sum(x[i] - mean(x))^2) (where the x[i] are sorted). Problems with Shapiro Wilk's test of normality.
Hi, I am trying to create a table with information from Shapiro Wilk's test of normality. However, it fails due to lack of sample size, it says, but the way I see it, this is not a problem. (See the table of sample sizes (almost) at the bottom). Applying a different function using a similar ftable call is not a problem (See the bottom table). This is R 2.1.0 on Linux (Gentoo). /Fredrik

Interpretation of Shapiro-Wilk
Can anybody tell me the exact meaning of the $statistic and $p.value calculated by shapiro.test? Shapiro-Welch W value interpretation
Hello, I have tested a distribution for normality using the Shapiro-Welch statistic. The result of this is the following: Shapiro-Wilk normality test data: mydata W = 0.9989, p-value = 0.8791 I know that the p-value > 0.05 (for my purposes) means that the data IS normally distributed but what I am not sure is with the W value, what values tell me that the data is normally

Hi The shapiro.test function outputs a value of the W statistic, which should be 1 if the distribution is normal, and a p-value for the test (as the documentation states). I'm a bit confused with some results. I'm getting a W=0.9977 and a p-value=0.1889. I was expecting that a W of 0.9977 would tell me that the distribution is normal so p-value should be small ... What am I missing ?
