loop causes syntax error in print()
I am having trouble printing a table out to the GUI display when the table is created and printed within a loop. I get a "Error: syntax error message" If I comment out the print statement, the loop runs fine and I can print out the last iteration of the table. ...[multiple loops and calculations ending with.....]... +

passing arguments to functions within functions
Dear R Users, I am trying to write a wrapper around summarize and xYplot from Hmisc and am having trouble understanding how to pass arguments from the function I am writing to the nested functions. There must be a way, but I have not been able to figure it out. An example is below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan # some example data df=expand.grid(rep=1:4,

Using 'by()' in a function
I have a list of dataframes, and want to apply a function to subsets of the rows of each dataframe. It seemed natural to write a function that takes a dataframe as an argument, and uses 'by() within it to apply the function to the dataframe subsets. However, I cannot get it to work. The problem seems to be passing the data argument of by() as a function argument. Is this bug, or am I

quota severe performace issue help
Dear gluster experts, We have encountered a severe performance issue related to quota feature of gluster. My underlying fs is lvm with xfs format. The problem is if quota is enabled the io performance is about 26MB/s but with quota disabled the io performance is 216MB/s. Any one known what's the problem? BTW I have reproduce it several times and it is related to quota indeed. Here's the

coxme in R underestimates variance of random effect, when random effect is on observation level
Hello, I have a question concerning fitting a cox model with a random intercept, also known as a frailty model. I am using both the coxme package, and the frailty statement in coxph. Often 'shared' frailty models are implemented in practice, to group people who are from a cluster to account for homogeneity in outcomes for people from the same cluster. I am more interested in the classic

simple repeated measures model: dumb user baffled!
I am in the process of transferring from an old version of S+ to using R having used a variety of other packages in the past. I'm hugely impressed with R but it has an excellent but depressing habit of exposing that I'm not a professional statistician and has done so again. Someone has run a nice little repeated measures design on my advice, students randomised to four orders of a

"Ghost" values after subsetting
I am using subset to select the data I want to use for my analysis and find that after I subset my data frame on one column I get ghost values in the other columns. here is an example: > table(data$Dags) 2008/04/12 2008/04/13 2008/04/16 2008/04/17 2008/04/19 2008/05/06 103 140 82 187 179 212 68 2008/05/07 2008/05/12 2008/05/15

Why R order files as 1 10 100 not 1 2 3 ?
The code given below worked well. However, the problem is that when I typed dir1 to see the results I found that R order the files as: [1] "data1.flt" "data10.flt" "data100.flt" "data101.flt" [5] "data102.flt" "data103.flt" "data104.flt" "data105.flt" [9] "data106.flt" "data107.flt"

Two way manova
Hello everyone, I would like to perform a 2-way manova test, but I'm having some issues. I implemented like this Y<-cbind(Resp1,Resp2,Resp3,....,Respn) model<-manova(Y "tilda" FactorA*FactorB) summary.aov(model) 1. I don't know at what level I have to do the Type I error correction. Is it on p-values returned by "summary.aov(model)? Or is it when I compare each

Multi-response MCMCglmm (gaussian and zapoisson)
Dear MCMCglmm users, I am currently struggling with the specification of a proper prior and model formula for a multi-response MCMCglmm with two of the three response variables being Gaussian and the third being za-poisson. The model includes several fixed effects and three nested random effects. In general, I would prefer to fit a model with a fixed effect of trait and suppressed intercept for

consolidate three function into one
That is certainly OK, but you can also just use print(ggsurvplot(...)) as your final statement. out <- RFS( ...) would then return the ggsurvplot object *and* graph it. Any good R tutorial or a web search will provide more details on function returns, which you might find useful. Cheers, Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is that people keep coming along and

consolidate three function into one
Thank you, your suggestion is simpler and logically better. I had impression that the last object in a function gets returned, so I did not add the print function at the bottom line of the function definition. Returning an object and graph the object are different process, I am a beginner for writing R function and need to find a good guide source about writing R functions. If you know a good

dimnames in array
Hello, I'm working with an array; I'm trying to make it so that an array of dim(42,2,2) has names whose length corresponds to that of the array, and am hoping someone with experience with this can see what I'm not doing correctly: data11 = array(0,c(41,2,2)) y = lsoda(x0,times,fhn$fn.ode,pars)#This is make.fhn() from colloc infer package# y = y[,2:3]
