Find zeros of analytic functions
Dear Partecipants to the list, I am Enrico Foscolo, a student of the Faculty of Statistics, University of Bologna, and I am interested under consideration of the search of zeros of one function. I would want to write a code using the software R. I have already read the book "Computing the Zeros of Analytic Functions" (P. Kravanja and M. Van Barel, 2000) that speaks about this problem,

Odp: Currency return calculations
My mistake sir. I was literally engrossed in my stupid logic, and while doing so, overlooked the simple and very effective solution you had offered. Sorry once again sir and will certainly try to be very careful in future. Thanks again and have a great weekend sir. Problems about Derivaties
Dear participants to the list, this is my problem: I want to obtain an expression that represents the second derivative of one function. With "deriv3" (package "stats") it is possible to evaluate the second derivative, but I do not know how I can get the (analytical) expression of this derivative. For example: Suppose that I have a function of this form:

Odp: Fw: R function for Gage R&R
Hi Elaine I do not use it very often. I programmed it to mimic Minitab functions (partly) with some adons from czech statistics textbook written by M.Meloun (meloun militky statistics - first hit in google) Basically you can have your data in some data frame or they can be as separated vectors. The function itself expects input of 3 vectors, but you can easily to modify it for imput as

Odp: Finding pairs
Dear Mr Petr Pikal I am extremely sorry for the manner I have raised the query. Actually that was my first post to this R forum and in fact even I was also bit confused while drafting the query, for which I really owe sorry to all for consuming the precious time. Perhaps I will try to redraft my query in a better way as follows. I have two datasets "A" and "B" containing the

ODP: ODP: Joining BDC (Samba) to PDC (Samba)
Normal PDC/BDC isn't possible now. It will be in Samba 3.0 (look in documentation). But you can create substitute solution. For example two idendicaly servers with autocopy of password database, but it isn't PDC/BDC relations. It is two identicaly domains. I have two servers with samba, with two indenticaly password databases and smb.conf. When I have problem with one, I can fastly change

Apache + asp.net + Oracle ODP are working under wine now
After 2 weeks of fighting I was able to have windows asp.net Oracle business application running under wine. It required 3 main changes: 1. Change apache code to avoid using getFile function which prevent apache to work under wine 2. Change wine code to fix GetUser bug from advapi.dll to have Oracle ODP working 3. Change some javascripts in application itself to solve some strange problem with
