Editor for Mac OSX
Dear R-list I am (forced) to change from Linux to Mac and am now looking for a new editor for R. I would like one that features a split window (console + editor) as well as syntax highlighting. Can anyone help? Especially the split-window feature does not seem to be easily available in the editors desribed on the R-help site, except Emacs, which I am reluctant to start using. I am on a MacBook Air

quartz.save of the FAQ (Mac)
Hi, In the FAQ for Mac http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/RMacOSX-FAQ.html there is 7.2 Saving the image You can can (???) the content of the quartz device window into a PDF file. This is not explained! This is a very simple way to export high quality graphics from R into other applications on Mac OS X graphics is PDF based (so are almost all applications available). However, this process

[LLVMdev] Does Apple's osacompile use LLVM?
I hope this is the right mailing list to ask this question. If not, please let me know where this question should be asked. Does anyone know if Apple's "osacompile" (Applescript compiler) use LLVM? If so, is there a way to compile Applescript to llvm-as? Thank you. Richard Catlin -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Applescript and .exe?
Hi there! I've used Wine a couple of years ago when I used Ubuntu as OS. Nowadays I have a Mac and recently installed Wine on it. My question is, how do I fix so that I don't have to use the terminal to start an .exe program? Just enter a script in Applescript, save it as an application and start it through that? I've googled and found some scripts but none of them works for me.

Mac and tcltk
Does the Mac version of R include tcltk? There is a section in the R Mac FAQ: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/RMacOSX-FAQ.html#TclTk-issues about tcltk issues on R for Mac but its not clear to me from this whether tcltk is or is not included and I don't have a Mac to try it out.

R for Mac OS X: 10.3.9 is obsolete?
Dear all, I am highly disappointed of the following decision: === ... Starting with R 2.3.0, CRAN binaries support Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and higher only. === Of course, === It is, however, possible to compile binaries for earlied OS X versions from sources. === But the process, described on http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/RMacOSX-FAQ.html#Building-R-from-sources consists of more than

Dialing the Phone from OS X Address Book with AppleScript, XML-RPC, PHP and Asterisk
I run an Apple OS X workstation and I've got a server on the same LAN that's both a webserver and an Asterisk PBX. I wanted to be able to originate calls in the OS X Address Book application, and have Asterisk dial them and connect them to the phone on my desk. I've assembled a system that uses AppleScript to connect, via XML-RPC, to a web application that, in turn, connects to

Invoking host system's programs with code running under Wine
Hi everyone! Recently I've made up my mind to code together a small plug-in for foobar2000 so it would go better with Mac OS X (Growl notifications, Adium statuses etc.). For that I need a method of running the AppleScript interpreter 'osascript' from inside the plugin. I wonder if Wine provides its own way to do that, or at least allows to call fork()?

X11 (Mac) graphics problem
Running OS X 10.6.3 on an Intel Mac (processors "2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo", memory "3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM) and the newest version of Wine accessible through MacPorts. Hey. A little while ago, I was having trouble installing wine. I eventually managed to install with MacPorts. Everything was going fine until today, when the program I actually wanted to run (Dwarf Fortress 0.31.01)

image() generates many border lines in pdf, not on screen (quartz) - R 2.9.1 GUI 1.28 Tiger build 32-bit (5444) - OS X 10.5.8
Dear all, I have invested substantial amount of work in a complicated, yet on screen perfect looking graph that uses image(). Unfortunately saving it as pdf (or quartz.save at high resolution) all generate very disturbing border lines around each small rectangle that image() has drawn. While using Preview it helps to turn off antialiasing to make those faint lines disappear on screen

accurate progress for UI
Hi All, I made a Mac UI application and am running rsync 3 from "do shell script" (applescript) and am trying to parse the output so I can get a progress bar to give a fairly true reading of size , or # of files, copied. I notice that the output reads for example, ..... 1650 of 8345 files to copy and then later ....30 of 11345 files to copy and eventually down to ....1 of

Exporting tables to RTF?
Greetings. Yesterday I managed to jury-rig a system to get a table out of R and import it into Nisus Writer Express (a word processor for Mac OS X). What I came up with is brittle, since it depends on an AppleScript script which has to be in a specific location and on no one touching the computer, since the AppleScript remotely controls Nisus Writer Express rather blindly and will make

Dear friends - I'm using Tinn-R in Windows and find it OK. My son is running MacOS and is just starting using R and I know nothing about MacOS and R but we seem to have difficulties in finding something similar to Tinn for MaC. What are your suggestions? Thanks a lot! Troels Ring, MD Aalborg, Denmark
