Rename dispatch.fcgi and routing stops working
I would like to rename dispatch.fcpi to host1_dispatch.fcgi, host2_dispatch.fcgi, etc in order to allow Switchtower to kill the right fcgi dispatch processes on deployment. But when I rename dispatch.fcgi routing to the controllers stops working, any ideas why this file name is important? ActionController::RoutingError (Recognition failed for ""):

Excessive Errno::EBADF with dispatch.fcgi
I''m running Ruby on Rails via FastCGI in an Apache environment, and I get the following error, a lot. fcgi dispatcher crashing
I''m trying to set deploy an app on apache2 with the fcgid module, but can''t seem to get anywhere. Things work fine with cgi, but when i switch to fcgi, i''m stuck with a ''503: Service Temporarily Unavailable''. There''s no error being logged anywhere, afaik. Trying to run dispatch.fcgi from the shell doesn''t work either. It bombs out,

Forking FCGI dispatcher
I hacked a forking FCGI dispatcher for Rails. I have no idea if this is the correct way to do it, but it seems to work fine. It improves memory usage a bit; after it is started the processes share almost 10 MB (of 12 MB total), but unfortunately it drops to 2 MB after a few requests. ===================================== #!/usr/local/bin/ruby require File.dirname(__FILE__) +

Hi all, I am having problems with FCGI and Apache2 on windows. The error I often receive is 500 error code response with logs listed down. I successfully use Webrick server and CGI (very slow). I had configured apache as is described in these document: http://dema.ruby.com.br/articles/2005/08/23/taming-fastcgi-apache2-on-windows. Any suggestions? Logs: > Errno::E232 (The pipe is being

404 Error on dispatch.fcgi
I''m a java/php programmer trying out Ruby/Rails on my Dreamhost account. I followed the wiki steps to the letter (2x now) and am still getting a 404 when I hit my dispatch.fcgi. http://mydomain.com/public/dispatch.fgci Can someone give me suggestions on how to debug this problem? Here is my dispatch.fcgi file: #!/usr/bin/env ruby # # You may specify the path to the FastCGI crash log

max requests for fcgi interface
I think my rails app has a slow memory leak that degrades performance over the course of several days. I''d like to get to the bottom of it but in the meantime I''d prefer to just bandage it and force the fcgi library to start a new instance of my app every so often. Is there a clean way to do this? Calling break in the each_cgi loop causes an error. Sending SIGUSR1, which

debugging 500 Internal Server Error when dispatch.fcgi run?
I''m trying to get my Ruby on Rails application to work under Apache. It works fine when run as WEBrick ("ruby script/server"). As suggested in http://www.ocssolutions.com/support/ruby/troubleshooting-ruby-on-rails.php , I tried running dispatch.fcgi on the command line. When I run it, no matter where I run it, it outputs: 500 Internal Server Error Both the #! (shebang)

A nasty evening with dispatch.fcgi
Hello all. Time for an all night installation campfire (no pun intended) story. I just helped a customer migrate from a single box to a 5 box system. 2 Lighty 2 FCGI 1 DB Everything went quite well. I scripted everything so it would be easy to add more boxes in the future. 3 scripts, one for each box type above. Then came time to get the site working. :-) Lighty came up easily. The DB came up

managing number of dispatch.fcgi processes ?
I have a problem where when I try and access my site a dispatch.fcgi process is started but then exits right after the page has loaded. Requireing it to start all over agin the next time a request is made. I''ve read about people using two or more FCGI processes to help with the request load but how do people do this? Firstly, how do you make a FCGI process persistant? I''m

Handling of SIGUSR1 in dispatch.fcgi
The latest version of dispatch.fcgi in the trunk has the following code snippet: trap("USR1") do # Go to exit as soon as possible. end One of the issues I encountered while debugging fcgi under windows is that SIGUSR1 is not supported in the native Windows version of Ruby (though it is in cygwin). Currently, I have it commented out to allow dispatch.fcgi to run without blowing up.
