Correlation Matrix with a Covariate
R Help - I'm trying to run a correlation matrix with a covariate of "age" and will at some point will also want to covary other variables concurrently. I'm using the "psych" package and have tried other methods such as writing a loop to extract semi-partial correlations, but it does not seem to be working. How can I accomplish this? library(psych) > set.cor(y =

2 ecdf from different set of data
Hi r-users,   I have 2 sets of data and I would like to superimpose this cumulative density in one graph.   I know how to put the 2 graphs in one same graph but my problem is the data are different.   > z[1:20]  [1]  2.02347388  3.19514379  0.05188875  1.41333812  3.50249892  4.34272676  6.65639581  5.01533819  4.18207505 [10]  2.87615551  2.28202152  0.49431541  0.06570579  5.68352438

termplot and ylim
Hi together, I always get an error message with using ylim in termplot(), like this: > x<-(1:10) > y<-(10:1) > l<-lm(y~x) > termplot(l,ylim=c(1,2)) Is this a bug, or is there another possibility to do that? Especially, I would like to use term.plot() for gamlss objects. Thanks for your help! Andreas -- Echte DSL-Flatrate dauerhaft f?r 0,- Euro*!

[LLVMdev] 2.6 pre-release2 ready for testing
G'Day Tanya, Is it too late to bring in the following patches to fix some major brokenness in the AuroraUX tool chain for 2.6? http://llvm.org/viewvc/llvm-project/cfe/trunk/lib/Driver/Tools.cpp?r1=84468&r2=84469&view=diff&pathrev=84469 http://llvm.org/viewvc/llvm-project/cfe/trunk/lib/Driver/Tools.cpp?r1=84265&r2=84266&view=diff&pathrev=84266

Oceanographic lattice plots?
R 1.8.0 on Windows XP Professional. A huge THANK YOU to the R Team for this marvelous software. I am making lattice plots of oceanographic data. The usual layout does not conform to plotting conventions that marine scientists use when depth is the independent variable. Under those conventions, plots are made with the origin at the upper left, depth on the vertical axis (increasing as it

Request: Documentation of formulae
In working through material on p.272 of MASS (4th ed.), I came across the following model formula: pet1.lm <- lm(Y ~ No/EP - 1, Petrol) I was at a loss to understand the use of "/" until I looked in "An Introduction [!] to R," where I found the explanation. My request is that more complete material on model formulae be lifted from "Introduction to R" (or

More on global environment
To follow up on my previous question, suppose a user R session wants to unload one workspace and load another within an R session. Is the following the correct sequence? 1. save.image() to save the current workspace as .Rdata in the current working directory. 2. rm(list=ls()) to remove everything from the workspace. 3. setcwd("xxx") to set the new working directory. 4.

Text position in Traditional Graphics
R 2.4.1 on Windows XP. Question: In traditional graphics, is it possible to find out the height of a line of text in units that can be used in arithmetic and then in calls to text()? Context: I have written a function that draws a plot and then, depending on whether some arguments are TRUE or FALSE, draws various lines of text in the plot. The text lines may be turned on or off individually

plotting Principle components vs individual variables.
Dear R, I'm trying to plot the first principle component of an analysis vs the first variable but am having trouble. I have no trouble doing the initial plot but have difficulty thereafter. Installing packages into updated R
A minor inconvenience in updating an R installation is remembering which packages were installed previously. Has anyone written a script to inspect a previous installation, then get & install the same packages into the new installation? -- Michael Prager NOAA Center for Coastal Fisheries and Habitat Research Beaufort, North Carolina 28516 Opinions expressed are personal, not official.

Change font-face in title
Dear List, Is there a possibility to change the font-face for a part of the title of a plot? For example I have the following... plot(nirs, type="l", xlab="Wellenl?nge [nm]", col="darkslategray", main = "Spektrum Deschampsia caespitosa") ...and I would like to change the part of the title-string "Deschampsia caespitosa" to italics? [LLVMdev] 2.6 pre-release2 ready for testing
LLVMers, 2.6 pre-release2 is ready to be tested by the community. http://llvm.org/prereleases/2.6/ If you have time, I'd appreciate anyone who can help test the release. To test llvm-gcc: 1) Compile llvm from source and untar the llvm-test in the projects directory (name it llvm-test or test-suite). Choose to use a pre- compiled llvm-gcc or re-compile it yourself. 2) Run make check,

Plot scales
I remember reading somewhere that locations on plots (in my case, arguments x and y for legend()) can be specified in several scales besides the usual data scale. I would like to set x and y as proportions of total plot size or something similar. Can anyone steer me to documentation on how to do it? -- Michael Prager, Ph.D. <Mike.Prager at noaa.gov> NOAA Center for
