Star rating system - IE display problems
Has anyone out there implemented a star rating system as described by Dave Naffis? http://www.naffis.com/blog/articles/2006/08/31/rails-ajax-star-rating-system He really has an excellent HOWTO to set this up. Unfortunately I see problems in IE. The overlayed, filled-in rating stars are not overlaying over top of the blank stars. The overlay is starting about 2.5 stars right of where it should.

acts_as_rateable in Beast
I''m trying to implement acts_as_rateable to my Beast installation to give users the option to rate posts (like reddit). I chose acts_as_rateable as it supposedly easily allows reddit-type voting but I''m having some problems setting it up and the documentation seems outdated. (http://www.juixe.com/techknow/index.php/2006/07/05/acts-as-rateable-plugin/) So far, I''ve

I have done my first open source project, star rating gem for rails apps
Hello, Along back I''ve been developing my very first open source project and finally decided to publish it. It is a star rating system for rails applications. It works basically like the other systems but I used different javascript plugin and added some other features such as ability to re-rate user''s ratings, support for long IDs of users etc etc GitHub repository

Interpolation Problems
Dear all, I'm trying to interpolate a dataset to give it twice as many values (I'm giving the dataset a finer resolution by interpolating from 1 degree to 0.5 degrees) to match that of a corresponding dataset. I have the data in both a data frame format (longitude column header values along the top with latitude row header values down the side) or column format (in the format latitude,

How to use result of approxfun in a package?
I am working on a project where we start with start with 2 long, equal-length vectors, massage them in various ways, and end up with a function mapping one interval to another. I'll call that function "f1." The last step in R is to generate f1 as the value of the approxfun function. I would like to put f1 into a package, but without having the package redo the creation of

approxfun-problems (yleft and yright ignored)
Dear all, I have run into a problem when running some code implemented in the Bioconductor panp-package (applied to my own expression data), whereby gene expression values of known true negative probesets (x) are interpolated onto present/absent p-values (y) between 0 and 1 using the *approxfun - function*{stats}; when I have used R version 2.8, everything had worked fine, however, after updating

Storage of byte code-compiled functions in sysdata.rda
Hi r-devels, we are seeing a new problem with our packages RobAStRDA (just new on CRAN, thanks to Uwe and Kurt!) and RobExtremes (to be submitted). It must be something recent with the way you internally treat/store byte-code compiled functions, as we have no problems with R-3.1.3, but do see an "Error in fct(x) : byte code version mismatch" with R-devel SVNrev r70532. Readers, According to the help '?approxfun', the function can be used to obtain the interpolated values. The following test was tried: > testinterpolation<-read.csv('test.csv',header=FALSE) > testinterpolation V1 V2 1 10 2 2 20 NA 3 30 5 4 40 7 5 50 NA 6 60 NA 7 70 2 8 80 6 9 90 9 10 100 NA >

Storage of byte code-compiled functions in sysdata.rda
Thanks, Luke, for having a look to it. Sure, I can give you some reproducible example -- even in two degrees of completeness ;-): see below. Thanks again, Peter %----------------------------------- (I) first example %----------------------------------- Just to reproduce the error, on r-devel, try: install.packages("RobAStRDA") require(RobAStRDA) getFromNamespace(".RMXE", ns

AW: Rank and extract data from a series
Hi, >I would like to rank a time-series of data, extract the top ten data items from this series, determine the >corresponding row numbers for each value in the sample, and take a mean of these *row numbers* (not the data). >I would like to do this in R, rather than pre-process the data on the UNIX command line if possible, as I need to >calculate other statistics for the series.

approxfun returning value higher than I would expect
Below is the code that I am using in a much larger function. I would expect a bankfull measure at zero to be between 0.6 and 0.8 approxfun is returning 0.8136986. I am sure that I am missing something. measure_bkf <- (structure(list(measurment_num = c(0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3, 3.2, 3.4), bankfull_depths_m = c(-0.48, -0.48, -0.42, -0.26, 0.58,

Suppress horizontal mean line in beanplot()
Hi, I would like to use the beanplot() function from the beanplot package. Unfortunately, I can't find out how to suppress the dashed horizontal line, that shows the overall mean. In the help I've found the argument "overallline", but it only allows for "mean" or "median" . I have tried overallline = F, overallline="n", and

Star Rating Component?
Hi, I''m looking for a star rating component for RoR, a bit like Votio (http://redalt.com/downloads/ - find the votio heading) or the star rating used on Amazon. I don''t really need the AJAX capabilities, just the ability to bind the results to a hidden drop down, or radio inputs. Multiple raters per page is also an issue. Any recomendations? -- Posted via

lattice-dotplot: resize axis
dear all, I want to make a dotplot with ratings from Items in 6 ItemsGroups. I reordered the items by rating within each group. I plotted the items by rating conditional on ItemGroup. The ordering works as I wanted but my y-aches labels (items) within each ItemGroup are now unequally spaced, e.g., in some panels there is a gap between one lower rated item and the next higher, to give a picture

(no subject)
Hi, I have generated a profile likelihood for a parameter (x) and am trying to get 95% confidence limits by calculating the two points where the log likelihood (LogL) is 2 units less than the maximum LogL. I would like to do this by linear interpolation and so I have been trying to use the function approxfun which allows me to get a function to calculate LogL for any value of x within

Unbalanced data in split-plot analysis with aov()
Dear all, I'm analysing a split-plot experiment, where there are sometimes one or two values missing. I realized that if the data is slightly unbalanced, the effect of the subplot-treatment will also appear and be tested against the mainplot-error term. I replicated this with the Oats dataset from Yates (1935), contained in the nlme package, where Variety is on mainplot, and nitro on
