Hello List, I`m trying to make prediction using a bagged tree with the package ipred. I tried to follow the manual but I`m getting an error message. Also browsing through the list-archive I didn`t find any hint. Maybe someone can help me? selbag <- bagging(SOIL_UNIT ~., data=traindat.bin, coob=TRUE) Error in dimnames(X) <- list(dn[[1L]], unlist(collabs, use.names = FALSE)) :

problems with extractPrediction in package caret
Hi list, I´m working on a predictive modeling task using the caret package. I found the best model parameters using the train() and trainControl() command. Now I want to evaluate my model and make predictions on a test dataset. I tried to follow the instructions in the manual and the vignettes but unfortunately I´m getting an error message I can`t figure out. Here is my code: rfControl <-

RWeka problem with WrapperSubsetEval

correcting a few data in a large data frame

problem with predict(mboost,...)
Hi, I use a mboost model to predict my dependent variable on new data. I get the following warning message: In bs(mf[[i]], knots = args$knots[[i]]$knots, degree = args$degree, : some 'x' values beyond boundary knots may cause ill-conditioned bases The new predicted values are partly negative although the variable in the training data ranges from 3 to 8 on a numeric scale. gbm for multi-class problems
Dear List, I´m working on a classification problem. My response has 60 levels. I`m very interested in boosted trees like AdaBoost or gradient boosting machine as implemented in the package "gbm". Unfortunately gbm is only applicable for 2-class problems. Is anybody out there who can help me? Is there a way to use gbm() for multi-class problems? Maybe there is a way to transform my

different randomForest performance for same data
Hello, I came across a problem when building a randomForest model. Maybe someone can help me. I have a training- and a testdataset with a discrete response and ten predictors (numeric and factor variables). The two datasets are similar in terms of number of predictor, name of variables and datatype of variables (factor, numeric) except that only one predictor has got 20 levels in the training

Calling a .bat to set environment variables and subsequent .exe execution from within R
Dear list, I have found a thread dealing with similar problems with a Mac, but somehow I cannot get it to work and the problem is slightly different: I am using the shell() command to execute a program from within R. The problem is that I need to execute SDKShell.bat file first that sets the environment variables for the program ogr2ogr.exe: shell(cmd =

How to join data.frames and vectors of different length, in an inteligent way?
I have a data set something like this: "YYYY", "Value" 1972 , 117 1984 , 73 1969 , 92 1976 , 113 1999 , 80 1996 , 78 1976 , 98 1984 , 106 1976 , 99 it could be created with: > dafSamp <- data.frame(cbind(c(1972,1984,1969,1976,1999,1996,1976,1984,1976),c(117,73,92,113,80,78,98,106,99))) The real dataset is of cause much larger, app. 100.000 samples

R 2.7.1 und WinEdt (PR#11806)
Hi, under the new version R 2.7.1 I can't use WinEdt. It seems that there is a bug in that version. To use older versions of the package RWinEdt doens't bring success. The Use of R 2.7.0 doesn't cause that Problem. Description of profiles ?
Hello together, I am working on liquid water profiles of clouds and would like to describe these profiles in relation to a reference profile. What is the best way to do this ? RMSE would equal positiv and negativ deviations. Is it better to use a correlation coefficient ? What is the best way, espacially when I want to find out profiles with the same behaviour / shape, which are just more or less

Your password expires today problem
Hi. I enabled policies with pdbedit. Password must be changed every 90 days and must contain at least 8 characters. I enabled password history too. After that (I tried it in samba 3.4.3 and 3.0.25 with same behaviour) every time a user try to log in the domain using Windows receives a "Your password expires today. Do you want to change it now ?" message box. If the password is changed,

Change positions of columns in data frame
Hi all, Probably a simple question, but I just can't find a simple answear in the older threads or anywhere else. I've added some new vectors as columns in a data frame using cbind(). As they're all put as the last columns inte the data frame, I would like to move them to specific positions. How do you do to change the position of a column in a data frame? I know I can use
