pdfmerge and ghostscript-8.70-6.el5_7.6.x86_64
Everyone, It looks like pdfmerge is broken after the recent upgrade of gs to ghostscript-8.70-6.el5_7.6.x86_64. Has anyone else had this problem. I have just started trying to debug it. If any of you already have solutions please let me know. Thanks, Greg Ennis

APPEND issue with Thunderbird
I'm getting a strange problem with APPEND and Thunderbird 0.8. This was working fine in the CVS version from June 8 and is not so fine as of June 20. It works fine using Pine. It appears that imap is hanging when trying to append to a folder. Right now, an imap process has the file open for about 1/2 hour. It wrote the headers out, but not the body. When Thunderbird disconnects from it, it

R console closes on its own
Dear R-experts, I am running a script that has the following structure: windows(height=5.5,width=8) dat<-read.csv("myfile.csv") names(dat)<-c('a','b','c','d') dat<-dat[,1:4] xyplot(dat$a~dat$b) Then I usually save the plot as a PDF (from the menu in the R console). I can save the PDF twice in a row; but at the third time, right when I

closing file with close(file) *silently*
Hi All, I am writing a function that reads a file in myfile = file('myfile.raw', 'rb') . . . . . close(myfile) No matter what, I get the warning Warning message: closing unused connection 3 (myfile.raw) Since the whole thing is in a function, I'd like to avoid unecessary noise for the user, and I'd like to kill the warning -- without having to mess with global options.

CRAN: How to list a non-Sweave doc under "Vignettes:" on package page?
Hi, is it possible to have non-Sweave vignettes(*) in inst/doc/ be listed under 'Downloads' on CRAN package pages? For instance, in my R.rsp package I have a inst/doc/report.pdf (part of the source *.tar.gz) that is not detected/listed. The PDF is not based on a Sweave vignette but an *.tex.rsp vignette that is dynamically created via inst/doc/Makefile. It is listed (*) BTW, can the

adding "Page X of XX" to PDFs
Sorry, jumped into the thread too late. (On the other hand, once the document gets complicated enough, it may be worth it in the long run to convert to something that actually has a document-generating back-end, rather than reinventing everything from scratch ...) several postscript problems
Hello everyone, I'm currently trying to export a couple of graphs to pdf . Postscript would be fine too, but I'm using odd page dimensions, which seem to be overwritten when using the "ps2pdf" command. I'm using the pdfpages package in LaTeX to put 6 graphs onto one page (this is why it ought to be a pdf in the end). I have two problems: 1. I'm using

RC7: its issues or mine?
Background: I'm new to dovecot (although with many years Washington IMAP behind me). We're considering migrating from Washington IMAP to dovecot on the main service here, and have just started trying dovecot, using RC7. Washington, IMAP has the usual(-ish) "/var/spool/mail" shared area for the INBOX (trad. UNIX "From " format); a user's folders default to being

Sweave, lty = 3 line incorect in pdf output
I'm having a problem with dotted lines (lty = 3) in the pdf output in documents generated with Sweave. In the displayed pdf, the dotted line does not show up and in the printed output, it is there but does not seem to respect the lwd argument, for example, it is very faint despite using lwd = 3. The dotted line is correct in a quartz window and if I save the Quartz window to a pdf and

HiddenStore option may be useful
I'm missing a HiddenStore option in OpenSSH, known from some ftp-server implementations like ProFTPd. Consider the following scenario: - A process PROCA is frequently polling the directory for a file called myfile.txt - Someone transfers this file via sftp or scp to the directory - While transfer is going on and the file is not completely written, PROCA reads in the file and removes is

Open an r+b file connection on Windows
I am trying to open an existing binary file, seek to a position in the middle, and then write one byte, while keeping the already existing data after that byte. It seems to me that I am unable to open a connection to a binary file in both read and write mode. I can open the "r+b" binary file connection and seek around, but I can't write to the file. And looking at the function

[LLVMdev] verbosity while invoking clang
I am working on implementing a new target for llvm. So far (to make debugging easier), I was compiling a C code into 2 steps: 1) generate the llvm file: clang -ccc-host-triple mytarget -emit-llvm -S myfile.c -o myfile.ll 2) generate the assembly file using llc -march=mytarget myfile.ll Sometimes, I add some verbosity for the 2nd command like "-print-after-all". Now, I'd like to

The matrix is 21x21, and the file have row and col names, and some other information. I am trying to read with the following code (I tried many variations on it, but all give the same error). The items in the data file is delimited by white space. (Part
