Hmisc Latex Question: column headings and Major Column Headings not properly alligned
Dear R users: When I create a table without Major Column headings, my *regular* column headings appear correct in the typeset latex file. The major row heading and row groups are as they should. w <- latex(mytab,title="",file="tab/my.tex",ctable=TRUE,caption="Descriptive statistics by

Conflict between xtable and Hmisc when using Sweave?
Dear R users, The Sweave code below runs fine, as it is. However, an error occurs when the line 'library(xtable)' is uncommented: Error: chunk 1 Error in "label<-"(`*tmp*`, value = "month") : no applicable method for "label<-" Is anybody aware of this and knows a workaround? Thanks, Sander. *******************

Sweave Print xtable
Hi, I'm working with Sweave and I have some trouble generating table. The R code is: print(xtable(myTable, caption ="", label="tab:myTab", digits=3), tabular.environment='tabular', floating=TRUE, caption.placement="top",size="\\scriptsize") and the resulting LaTeX table is: \begin{table}[ht] \begin{center} \caption{Principal

long captions -- new issue
I have found out that the way to have a break apart a long caption in the way that one desires is to have a short caption for use in the list of tables that is not broken with \\ I can manually adjust the LaTeX output from the Hmisc function latex() to get the tables how I want them. However, I would like to automate the creation of these tables. Inside the latex() function, I tried this:

Hmisc latex: table column width
R users, I'm trying to set a column width to one of the columns in a latex table (using Hsmic package, latex function). My intention is to get \begin{tabular}{lp{1.2in}llllll}\hline\hline Here's an example ####### R code ######### DF <- data.frame(Titanic) DF$long <- paste("This is a veeeeeeeeeeryyyyyyyyyy long line") DF <- DF[, names(DF)[c(6,1:5)]] library(Hmisc)

Hmisc - latex - table.env not observed
The following code library(Hmisc) x = 1:10 y = x latex(summary(x~y),table.env=FALSE) latex(summary(cbind(x,y)),table.env=FALSE) should produce latex output that is not a table. The second one produces just a tabular, as it should. However, the first one produces a tabular embedded in a table. (This is the effect if you leave table.env=FALSE out).

printing captions in multiple panes
Dear List, I would like to add captions to a set of graphics. The graphs are each composed of two scatter plots in an upper and lower pane. I'd like to add a caption below the lower pane. The troubel I'm hitting is that in order to fit the caption using mtext, I must increase the margins for both panes-- these shrinks my plots considerably and leaves a big blank area. The second trouble

Using sub to get captions in barplots
All, I've been using "sub" (subtitle) instead of "main" such that captions are below figures produced by xyplot. This works fine and captions are on a single line. However, when I try this for bar plots with error bars (altering the error.bars function form Crawley's The R Book, see below), the captions are split on more than 1 line. Is there a way to get the

captions for than one figure
Hi, I would like to have four plots plotted in the one figure and under each plot the caption (a) ... (d). Using mtext I can get so far: > plot(1:10, exp(1:10), log = "y", xlab = "xlab") > mtext("(a)",side=1,line=4.5) > plot(1:10, exp(1:10), log = "y", xlab = "xlab") > mtext("(b)",side=1,line=4.5) > plot(1:10,

Latex problem in Hmisc (3.8-1) and Mac Os X with R 2.11.1
Dear all, I did post this more or less identical mail in a follow up to another question I posted, but under another heading. I try again, but now under the correct header. upon running this code (from the Hmisc library-latex function) I believe the call to summary.formula is allright and produces wonderful tables, but the latex command results in a correct formatted table but where all the

A LaTeX question -- Hope people won't mind
Hello All, Hope people won't mind my posting a LaTeX question here. I know a lot of people who use R are also using LaTeX. I'm in a bit of a rush to complete a document and am having trouble with one aspect of the formatting. Hmisc: can not reproduce figure 4 of Statistical Tables and Plots using S and LATEX
Dear R-users: I can not reproduce figure 4 of *Statistical Tables and Plots using S and LATEX* by Prof. Frank Harrell with the following code: rm(list=ls()) library(Hmisc) getHdata(pbc) attach(pbc) age.groups <- cut2(age, c(45,60)) g <- function(y) apply(y, 2, quantile, c(.25,.5,.75)) y <- with(pbc, cbind(Chol=chol,Bili=bili)) # You can give new column names that are not legal S names

trouble with \textless in Hmisc latex() on a drop1 object
Yes, it's homework . . . delete now if desired . . . but I think it is an interesting problem. Running R 2.11.1, LaTeX on WinXP, via Sweave. A drop1() object from a glm() produces, as part of its output, a string that looks like this: <none> The trouble I run into is that running latex() on a drop1() object from glm() produces a string that looks like this in the generated .tex

Question about adding text to xYplot(Hmisc)
Hello, I have been trying to make a graph that have error bars and text at specific position. I used the following code from the help file of xYplot(Hmisc) as an example except I add a myPanel function, which is just supposed to add letters from the alphabet at the position aligned at y = 3. It constantly gives me error: "Error using packet 1 argument "subscripts" is

2 problems with latex.table (quantreg package) - reproducible
Dear all, When using latex.table from the quantreg package, I don't seem to be able to set table.env=FALSE: when I don't specify caption (as I think I should, when understanding the R help rightly(?)), I get an error message, and when I do so, of course I get one, as well. The funny thing is, that a table is indeed produced in the first case, so I get a nice tabular, but as I'm using
