R 3.2.4 rc issue
I generally run 'make; make check' (with more settings) when building the
Debian package. Running 3.2.4 rc from last night, I see a lot of package
loading issues during 'make check'. Here is splines as one examples:
checking package 'splines'
* using log directory '/build/r-base-3.2.3.20160303/tests/splines.Rcheck'
* using R version 3.2.4 RC (2016-03-02 r70270)

interpSpline with dates?
Dear R-helpers,
can I use a POSIXct date as the x variable in interpSpline? The help
page says x and y need to be numeric... is there a workaround?
example:
library(splines)
testdfr <- data.frame(Date=seq(as.POSIXct("2008-08-01"),as.POSIXct("2008-09-01"),
length=10))
testdfr$yvar <- rnorm(10)
sp <- interpSpline(yvar ~ Date, testdfr)
preddfr <-

Star Sonata
Hi. I've had issues with my Windows Laptop, so I've been trying to get Star Sonata working using Wine. It runs horribly under Cedega.
I've recently upgraded my system to the latest Ubuntu (8.04), and upgraded Wine to 1.1.2. I've got an NVidia GeForce 6800 GT card, and I'm running Pentium 4, x86 architecture.
At this time, with the default settings, there are no graphical

predict(backSpline(x)): losing my marbles?
I'm sure I'm doing something completely boneheaded here, but I've
used this idiom
(constructing an interpolation spline and using prediction from a
backSpline to find
an approximation profile confidence interval) many times before and
haven't hit this
particular problem:
r2 <- c(1.04409027570601, 1.09953936543359, 1.15498845516117,

Hello all.
Just having some hiccups getting this game running.
Hope I got enough information in here for you guys.
I checked the APPDB site but the guy is actually getting further than I am.

Have Winetricks
Using Allfonts.
Using D3dx_43
I added Vcrun2008 but it required msvcp80.dll
so I also added Vcrun2005 and that made fixed that.

R 3.2.4 rc issue
Thanks for the info, Dirk.
The tarball builds don't run make check (because of a policy decision that it is better to have the sources available on all platforms for testing than to have none if it breaks on a single platform). However the build as of tonight has no problem with make check on the build machine. Did you by any chance forget that Matrix is a recommended package and expected to

Problem with mle in stats4 (R 1.9.1)
Hi!
This is a repost of an earlier message (with a clearer example
demonstrating the problem I ran into). If you run the mle example in
stats4
library(stats4)
x <- 0:10
y <- c(26, 17, 13, 12, 20, 5, 9, 8, 5, 4, 8)
ll <- function(ymax=15, xhalf=6)
-sum(stats::dpois(y, lambda=ymax/(1+x/xhalf), log=TRUE))
(fit <- mle(ll))

Problems with packages fda and splines (PR#13263)
Full_Name: David D Degras
Version: 2.8.0
OS: Mac OS X
Submission from: (NULL) (128.135.239.11)
I have recently installed the version 2.8.0 of R along with package fda (v
2.0.2)
and its dependencies (including package splines v. 2.8.0).
Here are my problems:
1) The package splines should feature functions such a predict.bs,
predict.bSpline and such and it does not! I can make calls to bs, ns,

Smooth line in graph
Hi,
I?m trying to get smooth curves connecting points in a plot using
"spline" but I don?t get what I whant.
Eg.:
x<-1:5
y <- c(0.31, 0.45, 0.84, 0.43, 0.25)
plot(x,y)
lines(spline(x,y))
Creates a valley between the first and second points, then peaks at 3rd,
and another valley between 4th and 5th. I?m trying to get a consistently
growing curve up to the 3rth point and then a

Smartcards & SSH
Hi all,
I'm new to this mailing list, so I apologize if my question
is "obsolete" for you.
I'd like to know if anybody has a clear idea about
how to connect smartcards to the SSH framework.
I yet got a modified ssh-agent (by Stephen Pellicer)
that uses SSP-Lite (CyberflexAccess driver by me)
in order to use the smartcard instead of the HD files.
Instead, I'd like to

questions regarding spline functions
Greetings,
A couple general questions regarding the use of splines to interpolate depth
profile data.
Here is an example of a set of depths, with associated attributes for a given
soil profile, along with a function for calculating midpoints from a set of
soil horizon boundaries:
#calculate midpoints:
mid <- function(x) {
for( i in 1:length(x)) {
if( i > 1) {
a[i] = (x[i] -

Snom 320 HOLD and TRANSFER not detected
I have a preoblem with my snom 320 phones. I have 5 snom phones installed
and all of them have 5.2 firmware. All have same settings in the advanced
panel. On 2 phones when I press the hold or transfer key nothing happens and
* does not start the musiconhold. In the The hold and transfer keys are set
as F_R and F_TRANSFER correctly as the others. Other snoms and gxp-2000 work
ok.
Any ideas?

lme problems
Hi,
I'm analysing a dataset in which the same 5 subjects (male.pair) were subjected to two treatments (treatment) and were measured for 12 successive days within each treatment (layingday). Overall 5*2*12=120 observations.
I want to test the effect of treatment, time (layingday) and their interaction. I have done so through the ANOVA below:

predict.*bSpline() bugs extrapolating for deriv >= 1 (PR#1473)
I've already fixed the bugs, but as with the last one, this is
not critical enough to allow breaking current R-devel's code
freeze. I hope I will have corrected it for 1.5.1..
## Here is code reproducing the problems;
## I use try(.) whenever I know the current versions of R would
## give an error:
library(splines)
x <- c(1:3,5:6)
y <- c(3:1,5:6)
(isP <- interpSpline(x,y))#

SPA-941 Disable call waiting or Disable Call waiting via asterisk
I'm trying to disable call waiting for Linksys SPA-941, but
unfortunately as far as I have seen, there are no parameters on the web
interface regarding this feature. I just want callers to hear the busy
tone when the called party is at the phone. Probably I can accomplish
this by using the "disable call waiting" in asterisk as well, but I have
not been able to find any
