How do I multiply labeled vectors of numbers?
I'm an R newbie trying to do an operation that seems like it should be very
simple, but after much playing around with the interface and reading "An
Introduction to R" I can figure out how to do it.
I have two text files. File1 contains:
type n
dog 2
cat 4
horse 6
File2 contains:
type n
horse 1
dog 3
cat 9
mouse 11

How do I generate one vector for every row of a data frame?
I am trying to generate a set of data points from a Gaussian mixture
model. My mixture model is represented by a data frame that looks
like this:
> gmm
weight mean sd
1 0.3 0 1.0
2 0.2 -2 0.5
3 0.4 4 0.7
4 0.1 5 0.3
I have written the following function that generates the appropriate data:
gmm_data <- function(n, gmm) {
c(rnorm(n*gmm[1,]$weight, gmm[1,]$mean,

RQDA/RGtk2 Installation Problem
Greetings,
I have been having a problem installing RQDA on my Mac (OS 10.13.2). I
followed the installation process on the RQDA page (
http://rqda.r-forge.r-project.org/), but I keep getting an error message
saying that I am missing pkg-config and GTK. I reinstalled XQuartz and GTK+
2.24.17 multiple times (and reinstalled R version 3.4.4), but kept
receiving the same error message. I also tried

Thanks in advance

GTK_2.18.5-X11.pkg
Does anyone know where I can download the GTK_2.18.5-X11.pkg? It has been removed from r.research.att.com/libs/ and I need it to use the RQDA package on my mac. Is there anyone who can direct me to someone who might have the file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

basename/dirname produce incorrect results
The incorrect result incurs when the file path contains Chinese character.
It seems that dirname/basename action on unit of byte instead of char, so
the result in the following example is half of what is expected.

glm package
Hi all,
can the glm package be used to estimate a logit model to panel data? I am
asking this
because stata has a standard logit model and then an xtlogit for
longitudinal data. Is there something
similar in R?
Thank you

Chinese language R email list?
A colleague from China is visiting our lab is working with us on some
R-based remote sensing projects, and he was curious if there is a r-help
listserv in Chinese and, if not, if it would be possible to set one up?
I didn't see one listed on the Mailing List page on the cran-r website.
Thanks!

Example scripts for R Manual
Hi,
I am wondering if some experienced users would help put the
ready-to-run code of the examples in the manuals. It would help new
users learn R faster by putting all the examples in an ready-to-run R
script file. Can somebody help do so sometime and post the code along
with the pdf manuals?
