POSIXct and chron issues with tz
Dear All-
I am trying to merge two data files - they have different date formats
and different times zones. I need to match up the date/time of the
datasets and then invoke a conditional statement, such as: if dataC$mph
is >= 12 then keep dataM$co23 for the corresponding time/date stamp.
snippets of data files:
*dataC.txt*

Find a particular point on a curve
Hi,
my question is really precise.
I'm interested in drops of stomacal temperature (of seal pups) following
milk ingestion. Temperature starts at an average of 37.8oC (sd=0.2) and
drops rapidly to around 36.0oC and then stabilizes slowly to a temperature
silimar to the previous one. It looks a bit like an inverse skewed bell
curve.
I want to find different points on that curve, and I have a

Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies?
The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

RGL package surface plot
I'm completely new at R... I have sinkhole survey data (lat, long, and
elevation) and have been trying to plot a rotatable 3d plot for several
hours... cannot get it right. Examples I see tend to be grid data (one
elevation value per grid cell); however, my data are more random (known
elevations at known (but random) x-y positions). Data format is tab
separated, i.e.:

get means of elements of 5 matrices in a list
I've got a list of 5 matrices that are each 5 x 6. I'd like to end up with a
5 x 6 matrix that contains the mean value of the 5 original matrices. I can
do this by brute force, but there must be a better way than making each
matrix into a vector and then remaking a matrix
thanks very much for any help

funfits (PR#137)
Hi,
I spotted an inconsistency between the output of funfits under R, more
specifically "nnreg", and the one obtained under S-plus. Notice the difference
in the "Root MSE", "GVC" and "GVC cost=2". As a check mark, I am also including
the data summaries, confirming that I was in fact using the same data set.
Here's my output from both systems:

How to draw arrows or segment lines in 3 dimensional graph
Hi
I have a dataset which is like this:
ID X1 Y1 Z1 X2 Y2 Z2
1 32 127 85 31.7 121 85
2 37.9 153 88 34.6 137 90
3 36.8 134 88 36.1 155 97
4 31.4 136 87 29 113 70
I would like draw the arrow or segment line for each ID from (x1, y1, z1) to
(x2, y2, z2)
Is there a way to do this kind of 3-D graph.
Thank you

How to get the "Naive SE" of coefficients from the zelig output
Dear R-user:
After the fitting the Tobit model using zelig, if I use the following command then I can get the regression coefficents:

How may I extract the "Naive SE" from the following output please?

Novice question
Hello.
I am new R user, so this question is probably quite stupid, but for
the life of me I cannot figure out how to get predications using
multivariate linear regression analysis. Single variable predictions
work fine. I am trying the following:

ys <- c(133890, 135000, 135790, 137300, 138130, 139100, 139900,

splitting matrices
Dear useRs,
i want to split a matrix having 1116rows and 12 columns. i want to split that matrix into 36 small matrices each having 12 columns and 31 rows. The big matrix should be splitted row wise. which means that the first small matrix should copy values which are in first 31 rows and 12 columns of the big matrix. similarly 2nd small matrix should contain values from 32nd to 63rd row of the

i tried

but i am getting the following error
>Error in colMeans(x, na.rm = TRUE) : 'x' must be numeric
can it be done in any other way? and why i am getting this error??

questions re residuevqtrain
I'm trying to understand the residuevqtrain program, and I have some questions
for Monty, Erik, or anyone that understands how it's supposed to work.
I captured TRAIN_RES data from an encoding of a single track (about 4:43),
producing two files, residue_0.vqd (3727 lines, = 3727 points?) and
residue_1.vqd (huge). I then did a run with the parameters from the usage

[PATCH v2 0/7] tests/qemu: Add program for tracing and analyzing boot times.
v1 was here:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2016-March/thread.html#00157
Not running the 'hwclock' command reduces boot times considerably.
However I'm not sure if it is safe. See the question I posted on
qemu-devel:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.qemu/402194
At the moment, about 50% of the time is consumed by SeaBIOS. Of this,
about ⅓rd is SGABIOS
