Change order of columns in table?
I'm an R noob and have a (maybe) stupid question...
I have a table where I have the weekdays and a number for each weekday of
entries:
Thats what the table looks like...
Now I want to have an pie3D plot of this, but obviously the order of the
weekdays are not as one would expect...

How to obtain a sequence of dates consisting of only weekdays
Dear R-users,
How do I obtain a sequence of dates consisting of only weekdays without the weekends in R?
In S, I can do the following:
timeSeq(from="12/17/2007", to="8/25/2008", by="weekdays")
I tried using looking at timeSequence (fSeries package) and seq.Date (base package) but I do not know if I can specify "weekdays" rather than "day".

Delete Dates from a vector.
I need to create a vector of dates, weekdays only for a function I am
working on. Thanks to the chron library, I have managed to accomplish
this, but is there is a better / easier way. This is what I have thus
far.
range.dates <- seq.dates('02/02/2009', '03/13/2009', by =
'days')
range.days <- weekdays(range.dates)

Summing values by weekday and weekend - based on daily dates
Hi, all
Here I created a data frame like
mydates<- seq(as.Date("2010-05-29"), length = 43, by = "day")
myvalues<-runif(43,0,1)
myframe<-data.frame(dates=mydates, day=weekdays(dates), value=myvalues)

days between dates
Hello, I have some unbalanced panel data that is measured on weekdays only
(i.e., excluding Saturday and Sunday). I would like to get the number of
days between dates such that the number of days between a Friday and a
Monday is 1 (and not 3). Here is some code to illustrate my problem:
library('Hmisc');

Reformatting dates using chron
Hello All:
I am trying to generate a sequence of dates using library(chron). Using the following code, I got most of what I want,
dts <- seq.dates("01/02/1998", "01/10/2001", by="day")
dts <- dts[!is.weekend(dts)]
a sequence of weekdays only (no weekend dates), with first observation appearing as 01/02/98 and the last 01/10/01. But I would

Associative arrays
I just started playing with rails this week and am working on porting our
existing website to rails
in our navigation we have a list that has the days of the week that link to
the articles for those days.
this seems to be working when I had it in the template it would give me the
array I was looking for so I decided to move it to the helper so that I
could use it on all my templates.

Exclude holidays in a subset of dates?
Hi All,
I am iterating through dated materials, with variable start and end dates,
and would like to skip procedures everytime I encounter a weekend or
holiday. To do this, I thought the easiest way would be to create a
TRUE/FALSE vector corresponding to each day where it is TRUE if a workday,
and FALSE if a weekend or holiday.
So far I have been able to do this for weekdays:
startDate <-

No years() function?
Hi,
I'm trying to aggregate date values using the aggregate function. For example:
aggregate(data,by=list(weekdays(LM),months(LM)),FUN=length)
I would also like to aggregate by year but there seems to be no
years() function.
Should there be one? Is there any alternative choice?
Also, a hours() function would be great. Any tip on this?
Thanks in advance!

Randomly sampling subsets of dataframe variable
Fellow R users,
I am stumped on what would seem to be something fairly simple.
I have a dataframe that has a variable named 'WEEK' that takes
the numbers 1:26 (26 week time-period) with each number repeated
five times consecutively (once for each weekday, Monday through
Friday). Ex. 111112222233333.....2626262626. I would like to
randomly extract two weekdays per five day week for

Problems with weekday extraction from zoo objects
Hi Folks!
I'm struggling with dates - but enough about my personal life.....
I have two daily time series files. In one (x) the date format is Y/m/d
and the other (y) is d/m/y. I used read.zoo on both and they read into
R with no problem.
Then I use: weekdays(as.Date(x$DATE)) and get what I expect - all the
days of the week in my data set.

Weekdays
Hello,
I'm trying to write a function that returns the number of weekdays between a
vector of start dates and a vector of end dates.
Subtracting the 2 times the number of whole weeks is the easy part and works
if the number of days is a multiple of 7.
However, the number of weekend days in the tail is a little harder. It
depends on both the start date of the tail and the number of days in

how to get id of other table

I have a doubt regarding join tables
I''m having 2 models

so there are 3 tables

2)conts
3)conts_facs
then i''m fetching the data in controller as
@conts=Cont.find(:all])
@cfacs=Fac.all(:joins=>:conts, :select=>"facs.name")
but i dont know how to get the

Colors in interaction plots
Hi,
I am trying to plot an interaction.plot with different color for each
level of a factor. It has an erratic behavior.
For example, it works for the first interaction.plot below, with the
example from the ALDA book, but not with the other plots, from the NPK
dataset:

"XLConnect" packages; Excel dates read incorrectly
Hi,
I tried to read xlsx files by "XLConnect" packages, but the dates are
one day earlier than it is supposed to be. I moved from California to
Taiwan (Eastern Asia), and it worked well in California, but not in Taiwan.
Even if I adjust my Mac time to California time zone, it gives the wrong
dates. I don't know which part of the setting (in RStudio or in my Mac?) I
should adjust.

vector-factor operation
I found myself wanting to average a vector [vec] within each level of a
factor [Fac], returning a vector of the same length as vec. After a
while I realised that
lm1 <- lm(vec ~ Fac)
fitted(lm1)
did what I want.
But there must be another way to do this, and it would be good to be
able to apply other functions than mean() in this way.

Contingency table: logistic regression
Hi,
I am analyzing a data set with greater than 1000 independent cases
(collected in an unrestricted manner), where each case has 3 variables
associated with it: one, a factor variable with 0/1 levels (called XX),
another factor variable with 8 levels (X) and a third response variable
with two levels (Y: 0/1). I am trying to see if X1 has an effect on the
relationship between X2 and the
