[LLVMdev] Google Summer of Code Projects
First of all, I'd like to thank the entire LLVM team for this opportunity.
Torvald, google only displays the abstract on the results page, but I do know
about Tanger and it was mentioned in both the proposal and the comments
that followed, I'll write an email to you later with that info in a
bit, and I do intend
to use as much available infrastructure as possible, and tanger/tinystm are

[LLVMdev] Tool support for generation of transactional code
Torvald,
This is nice work. Do you have a set of applications or benchmarks
that you have transactionalized at the source level? If so, have you
reported performance numbers for them somewhere?
Thanks,

[LLVMdev] Tool support for generation of transactional code
I would like to announce the availability of compiler support for generation
of transactional code in LLVM IR. Our tool is called Tanger and it is an LLVM
pass. You can download Tanger at: http://tinystm.org
Transactional memory (TM) is viewed by a lot of people to be an important tool
for enabling parallelism in a wide area of applications, and especially for
developers that are not skilled

identical results with PQL and Laplace options in lmer function (package lme4)
Dear R users
I encounter a problem when i perform a generalized linear mixed model (binary data) with the lmer function (package lme4)
with R 2.1.0 on windows XP and the latest version of package "lme4" (0.96-1) and "matrix" (0.96-2)
both options "PQL" and "Laplace" for the method argument in lmer function gave me the same results (random and fixed effects

expected survival from a frailty cox model using survfit
Hello R users
Would somebody know how to estimate survival from a frailty cox model,
using the function survfit
and the argument newdata ? (or from any other way that could provide
individual expected survival
with standard error); Is the problem related to how the random term is
included in newdata ?

Hi,
I'd like to know more about the directions for the STM project.
Somewhat contrary to what the project's abstract states, there are open C/C++
based implementations for compiler support for memory transactions. Besides

Cannot delete used folders?
Greetings!
Short version:
--------------
I cannot rename or delete the directories that have been used in the
past (i.e. files or subdirectories created within). Everything else is
fine, renamable, deletable. All files (regardless wethder created before
or after), all directories created after the first one.
I was not able to find any hint on that - neither Google, nor UseNet

Issue with non-standard file 'vert.txt' in R CMD check
Dear R Support Team,
I am experiencing an issue with my R package during the `R CMD check`
process. A non-standard file named `vert.txt` is being generated in the
check directory, causing a NOTE in the check results. Despite adding
`vert.txt` to `.Rbuildignore`, the file is still appearing. And, there are
no commands in any part of my package's code that would generate this file.

output files in a different directory
Yes it is. Example from my program:
workdir <- "S:\\Stat\\C03202\\R-output\\"
...
sink(file=paste(workdir, assayname, "-1.txt", sep=""))
...
win.metafile(filename = paste(workdir, assayname, "-2%02d.wmf", sep=""))
You get the idea!

How do I pass WWW (80) through the firewall on two NICs ?
I'm getting lost ...
Running two NICs - no problem. But trying to screw down the rules a bit and getting lost on passing the www - or port 80, through the firewall both waqys.
There are WebServers - real and virtual, on the inside interface, with their own PublicIP. I'm not using the OutsideInterface as their web address, as I'm using my own DNS etc.
So, in rc.firewall, what do I

[LLVMdev] insert nop instruction
Dear All,
To add to this, you can find examples of inserting NOPs for X86 in the
CFI pass originally written at Lehigh University that we ported to
64-bit X86 for SVA:
https://github.com/jtcriswell/SVA/blob/master/llvm/lib/Target/X86/X86CFIOptPass.cpp
Alternatively, you could use an InlineAsm call at the LLVM IR level
(which I think would be easier to implement).

I have prepared a package to install in R. I followed all steps explained

My specific question is where should I type this command? In help

predict and arima
Hi all,
Forecasting from an arima model is easy with predict.
But I can't manage to backcast : invent data from the model before the
begining of the sample.
The theory is easy : take your parameters, reverse your data, forecast, and
then reverse the forecast
I've tried to adapt the predict function to do that (i'm not sure that the
statistical procedure is fine (with the residuals),

FIPS186-3 and NIST SP800-57 support
Hello,
I saw from OpenSSH man pages that the DSA key length must be 1024 bytes
(according to the standard FIPS 186-2).
According to the FIPS186-3 and NIST SP800-57, DSA key length could be
greater than 1024 bytes (2048, 3072).
Will OpenSSH be compliant with this new standard?
If yes, could you share with me the delivery plan of OpenSSh version
implementing FIPS186-3/NIST SP800-57
