Estimate average standard deviation of mean of two dependent groups
Dear R-experts! I am currently running a meta-analysis with the help of the great metafor package. However I have some difficulties setting up my raw data to enter it to the meta-analysis models. I have a group of subjects that have been measured in two continuous variables (A & B). I have the information about the mean of the two variables, the group size (n) and the standard deviations of

working with tables
Hi, two questions - I think simple to solve for you ... (1) I've written a function containing some loops. Each loop will generate a few outputs. Finally I have to combine them to get something like a "spreadsheet" that my colleagues can import in EXCEL. Up to now I'm doing it as follows: With each loop-step I assign new values for each "column" of my desired output

Questionnaire Analysis virtually without continuous Variables
Hello! I am doing an analysis on a questionnaire of hunters taken in 4 different districts of some mysterious foreign country. The aim of the study was to gather info on the factors that determine the hunting success of a peculiarly beautiful bird in that area. All variables are factors, i.e. they are variables such as "Use of Guns - yes / no", "Use of Dogs - yes / no" and

Model ranking (AICc, BIC, QIC) with coxme regression
Hi, I'm actually trying to rank a set of candidate models with an information criterion (AICc, QIC, BIC). The problem I have is that I use mixed-effect cox regression only available with the package {coxme} (see the example below). #Model1 >spring.cox <- coxme (Surv(start, stop, Real_rand) ~ strata(Paired)+R4+R3+R2+(R3|Individual), spring) I've already found some explications in

New Ranking Scheme - Help
Hi all, I am a biostatistician and I have developed my own ranking system for clinical data. I would like to test the efficiency of it w.r.t. to other ranking systems. I would like to simulate the data and after assigning ranks to my observed scores(after neglecting dropouts), observe the type I error. If I want to do a Kruuskal Wallis type of test, what test statistic should I use to test for a

Ranking submodels by AIC (more general question)
Here's a more general question following up on the specific question I asked earlier: Can anybody recommend an R command other than mle.aic() (from the wle package) that will give back a ranked list of submodels? It seems like a pretty basic piece of functionality, but the closest I've been able to find is stepAIC(), which as far as I can tell only gives back the best submodel, not a

Obtaining average ranking from matrix of frequencies
I have a small matrix where the columns represents a ranking and the values are the number of times each ranking was obtained eg 1 2 3 x 1 2 0 y 0 1 2 z 2 0 1 I'd like to be able to return an average of the ranking obtained average x 1.67 y 2.67 z 1.67 Whats the nicest way to do this? I'm new to the language and looking for an elegant solution :) Thanks Ben
