plot function creating bars instead of lines
Hello,
I am having a problem where code that plots lines using a different data
frame plots bars with the current data frame (I am intended to plot lines).
The code specifies lines (see below), so I can't figure out why the results
are bars. I suspect that it may have something to do with the fact that in
the data frame where the code worked as intended, the both variables

Adding points sequentially to multiple graphs in one window (device)
Dear R-help list:
I have want seems to be a simple task, but can't find a solution.
I tried querying the archives, but did not succeed.
My goal is to set up two (or more) graphs in one graph window, and
then during execution of a sequential algorithm add points
sequentially to these graphs. The graphs have different scales
/ coordinates. I use the par(mfg...) command to
switch between

graphics: par(mfg=c(i,j,r,c)) (PR#529)

When creating a multi-panel graphic, the command par(mfg=c(i,j,r,c)) is
supposed
to allow the user free movement between graphics panels to develop each panel
separately. This works for the first invocation of par(mfg=c()) and for the
first panel panel specified, but not for subsequent

why this postscript didn't work?
Hi, List,
I used the following codes to generate ps plots but foo.ps contains
nothing. Would someone please point out what is wrong with my codes?
Thanks a million!

par(mfg=c(1,1))
hist(rnorm(100),col='blue')
par(mfrow=c(2,2))
par(mfg=c(2,1))

'par mfrow' and not filling horizontally
Greetings, Folks.
I'd appreciate being shown the way out of this one!
I've been round the documentation in ever-drecreasing
circles, and along other paths, without stumbling on
the answer.
The background to the question can be exemplified by
the example (no graphics window open to start with):
set.seed(54321)
X0 <- rnorm(50) ; Y0 <- rnorm(50)

plot order in multi-panel figure
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to 'reset the plot number' on a traditional graphics device?
For instance, I want to have two plots on stacked top of each other (mfrow=c(2,1)) but with underlying grid lines spanning both figures vertically. I can put the grid lines on top if I add them last:
par(mfrow=c(2,1))
plot.new()
plot.window(c(0,1),c(0,1))
for( i in 1:2) axis(i)

Problems with segments and multiple graphs
I would like to create a page of two graphs (2 rows by 1 col) and then
draw vertical lines (segments?) on both graphs from the minimum
values to the corresponding maximum value.
So I have tried
#
> y <- rnorm(3000)
> par(mfrow=c(2,1))
> plot(y,type="l")
> plot(cumsum(y),type="l")
> segments(1000,min(cumsum(y)),1000,max(cumsum(y)))
> par(mfg=c(1,1))

empty postscript output of figures
Hi,
I have a puzzeling problem. I want to export graphics from R to TeX via
postscript(). This works fine for some graphs, but for others, the eps
remain empty when viewed with GSView. When such an empty eps is imported
to TeX, the figure appears upside down and very small, irrespective of
TeX width and height commands. If I transform the eps to pdf, the
graphic shows up, but turned aqround 90°.

2 images with 2 color scales on one graphic device. How to get it?
Hi!
Would like to plot two image plots with color scale (like levelplot (lattice) implements) in one graphic device.
Tried to plot 2 levelplot's (lattice) (the data has not much in common) in one graphics device by setting par(mfrwo=c(2,1)) which does not work.
Is there a way to force levelplot to use only a half of the graphic device?
Is there a function like image which provides the color

multiple plots with par mfg
Hi,
I'm trying to add points to 2 plots on the fly using par(mfg=vector)
so switch between them. However, the appropriate scales aren't
switched when changing from one plot to another, e.g.
par(mfcol=c(2,1))
plot(1,1, col="blue") # blue plot
plot(1.2,1.2, col="red") # red plot
points(1.1,1.1) # appears to bottom left of red point
par(mfg=c(1,1)) #

plot help
Hi,
Suppose I already have two plots on the same screen, and I want to draw
lines in each of them. Is that possible in R? It seems that once you have
two plots on the screen, you can only draw lines in the the last plot, never
the 1st. Here is what I mean:
#some data
y1=rnorm(1:3)
y2=rnorm(1:3)
#draw two plots on the same screen
par(mfrow=c(2,1),oma = c(6, 0, 5, 0))
par(mar=c(0, 5.1, 0, 5.1))

Background color of plot
I'm using the parameters "mfrow" and "mfg" to display some graphics(plots)
at the same time. Although, because of the parameter "mfg", the parameter
"bg" don´t change the background color.
What can I do to solve this?
Here is the code I'm using...

Graphic Device - View/get all graphics
Hi Listers,
I am producing some graphics that the commands are in a FUNCTION...
The problem is that I end up viewing just last graphic and in my FUNCTION
there are 4 graphics with the PAR command function... Like those below...
How do I view/get the other 3 graphics? Any help?
Thanks in advance...

Plotting two lines on a graph when using par(mfrow=)
Basic question but still learning ....
How do I plot two lines (f$equity and f$bh.equity) on one of the three
graphs under mfrow ? I tried putting brackets around the first plot and
lines command but that didn't work.
par(mfrow=c(3,1))
{plot(f$Date,f$equity, col="blue", type="l", main="equity")
lines(f$bh.equity, col="gray")}

Change current plot window size. Or - saving/loading current device plotting history
Hello dear R-help members,
Very soon I am to give a lecture on R. And in that lecture I intend to move
between: par(mfrow = c(1,1)) to par(mfrow = c(1,2)) back and forth.
I anticipate this will damage the image proportions and will force me to
resize the window.
So far I have found it is possible to close the window and then reopen it
(bigger/smaller) by using:
dev.off()dev.new(width=5,

by multiple calls to plot to place several plots on a page. I want to
store the plots as variables to be able to recall them later.

method, and a subset method.

help cannot put multiple chart Stacked Bar (from PerformanceAnalysis library) in a single plot
Hi
I'm having problems displaying multiple chart.StackedBar from
PerformanceAnalysis library on a single plot. I've tried using
par(mfrow=c(2,1)) but that doesn't work.
If I do it with barplot(), it works fine and I see both plots on a single plot.

> barplot(blahblah)
However if I try to use chart.StackedBar, the second entry
