intraclass correlation
Hi, Can R calculate an intraclass correlation coefficient for clustered data, when the outcome variable is dichotomous? By now I calculate it by hand, estimating between- and intracluster variance by one-way ANOVA - however I don't feel very comfortable about this, since the distributional assumptions are not really met.... Maybe anyone can help me? Best regards and many many thanks,

fit a "threshold" function with nls
I am trying to model a dependent variable as a threshold function of my independent variable. What I mean is that I want to fit different intercepts to y following 2 breakpoints, but with fixed slopes. I am trying to do this with using ifelse statements in the nls function. Perhaps, this is not an appropriate approach. I have created a very simple example to illustrate what I am trying to do.

about partial correlation (again)
Hello everyone I tried to install the library GeneNT in order to use the command pcor.confint because I want to construct confidence intervals for partial correlations but among other demanding the specific library needs the library "Graph" which I don't have it and I cannot find it at this site. Is there any other site that I can download this library? Thanks Kind regards

Lattice: how to index in a custom panel function?
Hi, I have a lattice xyplot that contains panels according to FactorA, and curves for the 2 levels of Factor B within a panel. I try to add text in the panels of a lattice graph. I suppose I have to write a custom function (panel.txt). What I really would like is to adapt the text in the panel according to the levels of FactorA. In the manuals, I find examples for the strips using which.given

difference in order() between Linux and Windows with mixtures of caps and normal letters
Could anybody explain this difference in the function order() between R under windows and R under Linux ? It seems that under Linux the order in of character dsitinguishes between caps and normal letters and sorts them starting with the capitals (see below). How can I avoid this (I mean: get the same results as I get under Windows)? Thanks Joris Under Windows R 1.6.2 > mstring <-

about partial correlation
Hello everyone My name is Vangelis and I want to ask a question about partial correlation. I have used the command "pcor.shrink" to evaluate the partial correlations of a data.frame but the problem is that in the output results I cannot see whether these correlations are significant or not. Is there any command which can show me if these correlations are significant at 95% level or

Empty username and password for stream_auth
Hi Philipp, Thanks for your reply. It really helped. Did I understand you correctly that we should respond to those requests sent by Icecast without username and password with HTTP status code 200 and the header "Icecast-Auth-Message: No username provided"? FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I seriously doubt it is going to be. Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2 server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any problem. Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the
