Fuctions help!
Hi everyone,
I have a question about functions. I have two functions:
Sampling=function(fname,Total,nSample,nPatient){......return(list(Gmean,Gsd))}
Power=function(alfa,m1,m2,s1,s2,n1,n2){....return(powe)}
I want to use "Gmean" and "Gsd" which are the returned values from
"Sampling" function, in "Power" function.
i.e. when I call "power" I want

saving result of a "for" loop
Hi everyone,
I have dataset which I take random samples of it 5 times. each time I get
the mean for rows for each sample.
at the end I need to calculate the Average of all means for each sample and
each row. to clear it up I give an example:
say this is my dataset.
X8 X9X10X12 X13 X14 X15 X16X17X18X19 X20 X21 X22

Help With Graphs
Hi guys,
I am truing to draw a circle and choose 10 points on the circle and put a
number from 1 to 10 above each point. I don't have a problem with drawing a
circle and choosing 10 points. my problem is with numbering . is it even
possible to put a number above each chosen point? if so any idea how to do
it?
ps: the circle has red dots and the selected points are in black.

Help Help with sampling
Hi everyone,
I have a dataset(named "Mydata") which includes 4 different variables named;
s1,s2,s3,s4 .Each variable(symptom) has 14 patients.
I need to use random sampling to make, 5 different samples from my data with
5 patients in each sample. i.e. using all 4 variables I need to make 5
different samples by changing patients(with 5 patients in each sample).

Inserting a new row in a matrix
Hi guys,
I need to insert a row to a matrix in a for loop. I have matrix named "Avg"
which is a 5x4 matrix of zeros.
I have a file named "A"(4 rows,14 columns) which I make a sample of it 5
times. each time I get the mean for each column and put the result in the
"Avg" matrix. this is my code:
Avg=matrix(0,5,4)

> for(i in 1:5){

Selecting a subplot of pairs
Hello,
I'm trying to plot a set of 3 dependant variables (y) against 4
predictors (x) in a matrix-like plot, sharing x- an y-axis for all the
plot on the same column/line :
y1/x1 y1/x2 y1/x3 y1/x4
y2/x1 y2/x2 y2/x3 y2/x4
y3/x1 y3/x2 y3/x3 y3/x4
In fact, this plot is a rectangular selection of the result of pairs(),
limited to the relations between x's and y's

number of matches when using Match()
To anyone who uses the Match() function in the Matching library...
How do you go about deciding how many matches you will use? With my
data, my standard errors generally get smaller if I use more matches.
Speaking of standard errors, when correcting for heteroscedasticity,
how many matches do you use (this is the Var.cal option). It seems to
me that it might make sense to use the same number

function help
Hi everyone,
I have dataset which I make a sample of it couple of times and each time I
get the mean and standard deviation of each row for each sample. I have a
function for that, which takes the name of the file and number of times to
sample and then returns the mean and standard deviation for each row in each
sample.
Sample=function(name, n){

Help with functions
Hi there,
I have a the following function which takes a name(fname), total number of
rows (Total), number of times to make a sample(nSample), number of
records/rows to be included in each sample(nPatient). then it generates
required samples and calculates the mean and standard deviation of the
columns for each sample and finally in calculates the grand mean and
standard deviation.

Cannot calculate confidence intervals NULL
I believe the problem is here:
cor1 <- cor(x1, y1, method="spearman")
cor2 <- cor(x2, y2, method="spearman")
The x's and y's are not looked for in data (i.e. NSE) but in the
environment where the function was defined, which is standard evaluation.
Change the above to:
cor1 <- with(d, cor(x1, y1, method="spearman"))
cor2 <- with(d, cor(x2, y2,

Multivariate multiple regression
I'd like to model the relationship between m responses Y1, ..., Ym and a
single set of predictor variables X1, ..., Xr. Each response is assumed
to follow its own regression model, and the error terms in each model
can be correlated. My understanding is that although lm() handles
vector Y's on the left-hand side of the model formula, it really just
fits m separate lm models. What should

rpart - how to estimate the “meaningful” predictors for an outcome (in classification trees)
Hi dear R-help memebers,
When building a CART model (specifically classification tree) using rpart,
it is sometimes obvious that there are variables (X's) that are meaningful
for predicting some of the outcome (y) variables - while other predictors
are relevant for other outcome variables (y's only).
*How can it be estimated, which explanatory variable is "used" for which of

Using a loop to define new variables
Hi,
I'm a novice R user, much more used to SAS. My problem is pretty simple - basically, in a data frame, I have variables named
x1,....,x10 and y1,...,y10; and I would like to create r1 = x1 / y1 etc
Apologies if this is way too rudimentary - but I couldn't find any posts online which solve this exact issue.
Cheers,

help on permutation/randomization test
Hi,
I have two groups of data of different size:
group A: x1, x2, ...., x_n;
group B: y1, y2, ...., y_m; (m is not equal to n)
The two groups are independent but observations within each group are
not independent,
i.e., x1, x2, ..., x_n are not independent; but x's are independent from y's
I wonder if randomization test is still applicable to this case. Does
R have any function

xyplot - help with multiple Y's vs. X of a member data in multiple panels
Dear R experts,
Wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
How do I go about plotting (using lattice) overlays of an ID (group=ID)
observed, fitted data in each panel of a multiple panel plot (each panel
identified by DS1 + DS2 + DS3)? "x" variable is X1 in the accompanying
section of a dataset. each individual is identified by color and Y's are
identified by "pch" or "lty".

R-Experts,
Here below my R code working without error message but I don't get the results I am expecting.
Here is the result I get:

If someone knows how to solve my problem, really appreciate.

Writing my 3D plot function
Hi all,I had a question last week on asking for a function that will help me draw three different circles on x,y,z axis based on polar coordinates (Each X,Y,Z circle are coming from three independent measurements of 1-360 polar coordinates). It turned out that there ?is no such function in R and thus I am trying to write my own piece of code that hopefully I will be able to share. I have spent
