unordered multinomial logistic regression (or logit model) with repeated measures (I think)
I am attempted to examine the temporal independence of my data set and think I need an unordered multinomial logistic regression (or logit model) with repeated measures to do so. The data in question is location of chickens. Chickens could be in any one of 5 locations when a snapshot sample was taken. The locations of chickens (bird) in 8 pens (pen) were scored twice a day (AMPM) for 20 days

Fitting a multinomial model to a multi-way factorial design with repeated measures: help on package and syntax
Dear all, I studied in tank prey fish behavior. Using the design described below (and R code), I want to test the effects of both habitat and predator (and interaction) on prey fish's vertical distribution, which was recorded (with repeated measures) as a categorical variable. I found that package mlogit might fit to my need but I don't know how to specify my complex design in the

negative multinomial regression models
Hello, I''ve spent a lot of time during the past month trying to get negative multinomial regression models for clustered event counts as described in (Guang Guo. 1996. "Negative Multinomial Regression Models For Clustered Event Counts." Sociological Methodology 26: 113-132., abstract at http://depts.washington.edu/socmeth2/4abst96.htm) implemented in R. Multiple imputation, multinomial response & random effects
Dear R-group, Could somebody recommend a package that can deal with a multinomial response variable (choice of breeding tactic in mice, which has four unordered levels), multiply-imputed data (generated using the Amelia package) and two non-nested random effects: individual identity (133 individuals made up to four choices each) and year (for which there are six levels and sample size varies

Fitting multinomial response in structural equation
Hi - I am confronting a situation where I have a set of structural equation and one or two of my responses are multinomial. I understand that sem would not deal with the unordered response. So I am thinking of the following two ways: 1. Expanding my response to a new set of binary variables corresponding to each label of my multinomial response. Then use each of these as a separate response in my

Multinomial Analysis
I want to analyse data with an unordered, multi-level outcome variable, y. I am asking for the appropriate method (or R procedure) to use for this analysis. > N <- 500 > set.seed(1234) > data0 <- data.frame(y = as.factor(sample(LETTERS[1:3], N, repl = T, + prob = c(10, 12, 14))), x1 = sample(1:7, N, repl = T, prob = c(8, + 8, 9, 15, 9, 9, 8)), x2 = sample(1:7, N, repl =

logistic regression: categorical value, and multinomial
I have two questions: 1. If I want to do a binomial logit, how to handle the categorical response variable? Data for the response variables are not numerical, but text. 2. What if I want to do a multinomial logit, still with categorical response variable? The variable has 5 non-numerical response levels, I have to do it with a multinomial logit. Any input is highly appreciated! Thanks! Ed

multinomial logistic regression
Hi, how can I do multinomial logistic regression in R? I think glm() can only handle binary response variable, and polr() can only handle ordinal response variable. how to do logistic regression with multinomial response variable? Thanks __________________________________

How to get predicted marginal (aka predicted mean) after multinomial logistic?
I tried to use the effect() to get predicted marginals for multinomial logistic as I did for general logistic regression, but failed. Is there anyway to do that? does multinomial logistic model from multinom (nnet) has logLik?
I want to get the logLik to calculate McFadden.R2 ,ML.R2 and Cragg.Uhler.R2, but the value from multinom does not have logLik.So my quetion is : is logLik meaningful to multinomial logistic model from multinom? If it does, how can I get it? Thank you! ps: I konw VGAM has function to get the multinomial logistic model with logLik, but I prefer use the function from "official" R

Memory problem in multinomial logistic regression
Dear All I am trying to fit a multinomial logistic regression to a data set with a size of 94279 by 14 entries. The data frame has one "sample" column which is the categorical variable, and the number of different categories is 9. The size of the data set (as a csv file) is less than 10 MB. I tried to fit a multinomial logistic regression, either using vglm() from the VGAM package or

multinomial logistic regression with survey data
Hello, Is there a function/package that can do multinomial logistic regression using survey weights, similar to "svymlogit" in Stata? It appears that only "svyglm" function (which does not allow multinomial response?) is available in the "survey" package. Thank you! Masha Kocherginsky

Multinomial logistic regression in an ANOVA-like framework
Dear all, I have a problem for multinomial logistic regression: the response variable is multinomial (score 1-5) and the two predictors are categorical; all that comes from panelists (it's a kind of preference study), which I treat as a block and include in the model (is it correct?). I would like to see the results in the ANOVA-like framework. Fitting the multinom() function from the nnet

multinomial logistic regression with equality constraints?
I'm interested in doing multinomial logistic regression with equality constraints on some of the parameter values. For example, with categorical outcomes Y_1 (baseline), Y_2, and Y_3, and covariates X_1 and X_2, I might want to impose the equality constraint that \beta_{2,1} = \beta_{3,2} that is, that the effect of X_1 on the logit of Y_2 is the same as the effect of X_2 on the

formatting data to be analysed using multinomial logistic regression (nnet)

Multinomial and Ordinal Logistic Regression - Probability calculation
Dear all, I am new to R and would like to run a multinomial logistic regression on my dataset (3 predictors for 1 dependent variables) I have used the vglm function from the VGAM package and got some results. Likelihood Function for Multinomial Logistic Regression and its partial derivatives
Hi, I would like to apply the L-BFGS optimization algorithm to compute the MLE of a multilevel multinomial Logistic Regression. The likelihood formula for this model has as one of the summands the formula for computing the likelihood of an ordinary (single-level) multinomial logit regression. So I would basically need the R implementation for this formula. The L-BFGS algorithm also requires

scores from multinomial logistic regression
Dear all, I'm interested in extracting the score from multinomial logistic regression models fit using multinom, to assess the stregth of assocation of the parameter with the response (akin to the score from clogit/cox regression). currently I'm using R 1.8.1. Is there a function that will extract the score from a multinom object or how i can get back to it? or from using glm? I
