Changeing logarithms
Hi!
I'm using a large panel data, and now I have faced some difficulties with
my analysis. The predictors are not normally distributed and there are
quite many outliers (some of them are influential though).
I have tried to change the logarythm, but i'm not sure, how to do that. I
want also draw a plot picture in which logarythms of predictors x and y are
changed. How could I do that?

Renaming variables
Hi guys,
I checked previous posts and I saw similar questions have been answered;
they didn't help me solve my problem though. I am using R version 2.13.0
(2011-04-13), Platform: x86_64-pc-mingw32/x64 (64-bit) and I am having
difficulties renaming variables. I tried with this command:
names (oldvariable) <- 'new_variable'
and now when I type in oldvariable the new name pops out

groupedData Error Using outer=TRUE
I'm using groupedData from nlme. I set up a groupedData data.frame with
outer=~group1. When I try to plot with outer=TRUE, I get "subscript out
of bounds." This happens most of the time. When it works, I get
spaghetti-type plots for comparing groups. But I don't understand why it
doesn't usually work.

Combining logical operators to extract columns from a dataframe
Hi R-helpers,
I have a dataframe (called data) with 100 columns, the columns of which are
named with integers ranging from 1900 to 1999.
I wish to extract those columns which names are >=1950 and <=1970.
I tried:
data2<-subset(data,select=(names(data)>=1950 & names(data)<=1970))
but that doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks! Mark

unknown dimensions for loglm
Dear R-help community,
I am working with multidimensional contingency tables and I am having
trouble getting loglm to run on all dimensions without typing out each
dimension.
I have generated random data and provided output for the results I want
below:
d1.c1 <- rnorm(20, .10, .02)
d1.c2 <- rnorm(20, .10, .02)
d2.c1 <- rnorm(20, .09, .02)
d2.c2 <- rnorm(20, .09, .02)

Error in inherits(x, "data.frame") : subscript out of bounds
Hi,
I have a list p with different size dataframes and length of over
8000. I'm trying to
calculate correlations between the rows of dataframes of this list and
columns of another
dataset (type data.frame also) so that first column is correlated with
all the rows in
the list dataframe. Some information from another dataset is also
included to the final
output (all.corrs). This worked a

Error: (subscript) logical subscript too long
As part of a larger program I have a rather long and involved sub-procedure which fails to work, It manipulates some large matrices, stored to the disc. The procedure halts with the message:
Error: (subscript) logical subscript too long
Can anyone give advice about what may cause this error and how it can be remedied - I feel confident that it is not a syntactically or logical error.
Thanks,

Error: (subscript) logical subscript too long
Hello,
I am trying to perform a logistic regression using counts. For example:
cedegren <-
read.table("http://www.cloudstat.org/index.php?do=/attachment/download/id_95

attach(cedegren)
ced.del <- cbind(sDel, sNoDel)
ced.logr <- glm(ced.del ~ cat + follows + factor(class),
family=binomial("logit"))
This works. However, if I change the family to

Questions about dovecot-shared in 1.2 and inherit group membership from parent mailbox
Hi,
I read the Wiki about dovecot-shared a few times but it is not 100%
clear to me (at least for 1.2).
First, if I want shared keywords I *must* have a dovecot-shared. In this
case, the permissions are not taken any longer from the parent folder
(what is exactly this parent folder?) but from the dovecot-shared file.
So in some sense dovecot-shared is always required (since everyone would

coercing created variables into a new data frame using na.omit()
Hi,
I am an R newbie and one thing I am having trouble with binding variables that
I have created within one data frame into a new data frame when using
na.omit(). To illustrate this problem I will give the example I am working on
and the approah I have been using:-
data.frame1<-filepath....
attach(data.frame1)
#create a new variable using a function
new.variable<-rep(1,length(weight3))

I am confused on how to explain the interaction term in the context of

Then I need to compute ssdw which is sum of square deviation. If I do equal trimming at both tail of distribution that I chose, I will use the first ssd formulae which is "a". I have posted to this list before regarding the same issue so I
apologize for the multiple e-mails. I am still struggling with this

reproducible code and a subset of the data I am analyzing.
I am running an ANOVA with three factors: GROUP (5 levels), FEATURE
