getting line breaks with xtable
Sorry, for asking the same question again, but I got no reactions the last
time. Maybe it was just overseen by the experts.
I'm using the xtable function with Sweave and Lyx and I would like to know
how to get automatic line breaks for long strings in a column of the table.
I've learned from the Lyx wiki that the Latex command \linebreak produces
table cells with multiple lines. I tried to

Input encoding problem when using sweave with xetex
Hello
Because I want to use different true type fonts with latex, I''m using the
XeTeX typesetting engine for my sweave-documents. I''m using Lyx with Sweave
on a Windows 7 PC and have set up LyX to work with XeTeX according to the
following instructions:

Because the input file for XeTeX is assumed to be in UTF-8 encoding, I set

Sweave and xtable floating issues -- SOLVED
Dear all,
I've recently made in LyX a report using Sweave and run into troubles
with xtable() generated LaTeX tables. One example, xtable() commands
inside floats (table, box (minipage), etc.) will make the LaTeX
compilation fail. Another, if four-five xtable() commands are run in a
sequence, at least one of the generated tables will strangely hop onto
the next page.
The culprit is that

plotting group means
Hi all,
I want to plot the grouped means of some variables. The dependent variables
and the grouping factor are stored in different columns. I want to draw a
simple line-plot of means, in which the x-axis represents the variables and
y-axis represents the means. The means of the groups should be connected by
lines. So far, the only function that I could find comes closest to what I'm

Adjusting confidence intervals for paired t-tests of multiple endpoints
Dear R-users,
In a randomized placebo-controlled within-subject design, subjects recieved
a psycho-active drug and placebo. Subjects filled out a questionnaire
containing 15 scales on four different time points after drug
administration. In order to detect drug effects on each time point, I
compared scale values between placebo and drug for all time conditions and
scales, which sums up to

How to combine xtable and minipage with Sweave ?
Hello,
I'm trying to put a dynamic table and a dynamic graph side by side in a pdf
document using Sweave.
The data.frame used to generate the table is called rg (rg.txt):

Sweave & xtable
I am just starting to learn Sweave (really neat tool). I am pretty
early in the learning curve (I had to think a moment ago whether a # or
% was the appropriate comment character).
I have successfully incorporated simple graphics and outputs, but am
having trouble getting a latex (xtable) table to function properly.
Latex is seemingly treating the xtable code as input or verbatim text.

query on xtable(Sweave)
Dear all,
I am exporting to latex a dataframe via xtable(Sweave). My dataframe
includes 4 rows and 4 columns. The first two rows containing real
values(e.g. a laboratory parameter's mean value), and the two rows at the
bottom containing only integers (number of cases).
using display=c('fg','fg','fg','fg') as an argument to xtable I tried to

Sweave, using xtable in a loop doesnt work?
I have a data.frame, data, with 30 factor variables. I would like to tabulate the frequencies of each variable and output to a tex file using Sweave. Here is my code chunk:
<<label=tab, echo=FALSE, results=tex>>=
library(xtable)
for(j in 1:30){
cap <- paste("Frequency counts for Q",j,".", sep="")
xtable(t(table(data[,j])),caption=cap)

Sweave & xtable
I'm trying to get Sweave running for automatic report generation, and
it seems to run fine when just using verbatim output. However, I've ran
into a problem with xtable. I would like to print the following matrix
using xtable:
> dim(counts)
[1] 19 15
All columns are filled with real/integer numbers > 0 and < 1000. Just
typing xtable(counts) gives correct LaTeX output, but

xtable - caption missing with float=FALSE
Hi,
For some reason I'm finding that my table caption is disappearing if I
print xtable output with the floating argument set to FALSE. Below is a
very simple Sweave file that produces two tables the first has no
caption and the second has a caption (if you want to see it
http://www.zevross.com/temp/test.pdf).
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

sweave xtable and driver RweaveHTML
Hi,
So far I used Sweave to create pdf reports. I used xtable to create some
tables in the report.
But now I would like to use the same snw file to generate an HTML version.
The xtable output breaks the RweaveHTML driver.
library(R2HTML)

xtable formatting: RED for negative numbers?
I've been experimenting recently with the fantastic Sweave/xtable combination
for generating latex. In the xtable vignette, I found this great example of
printing a ts object by months.
Is there a way to modify this code to generate RED numbers inside xtable for
negative results in x.ts?
Thanks in advance.

xtable and sweave: caption placement problem
Dear All
I am running Sweave with xtable and want to put the caption placement
on top. But this does not work. Any idea what is going wrong?
Here is an example that runs properly with the exception of the
caption placement in the pdf-file.
\documentclass[11pt,a4paper]{article}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\begin{document}
<<>>=
x = runif(100, 1, 10)
y = 2 + 3 * x + rnorm(100)

formatting tables with long column names via package:xtable within Sweave
Hi,
I use the excellent Sweave tools for writing documents
but was wondering how to neatly print a data.frame
with long column headings.
I cant manage to do this via package:xtable.
Typically the labels that I would like use
for each column consist of more than one word,
but even with just one word,
the heading is often wider than the contents of the column.
So the number of columns that fits

wrap lines in xtable
Hi,
I use the packages Sweave and xtable to generate some LaTeX tables. In
one particular case the last column of the table contains lines that
are too long to fit in the document and are therefor cut.
My question is (hopefully I did not miss anything in the documentation):
How can I wrap long lines without fiddling around with the resulting
Latex code? Can I do it directly in the Sweave

I am trying to use the package "exams" to construct problem sets.
I have constructed an exercise which generates a list of integers and asks
the student to compute the median.

I want to print out the entire vector as part of the problem.
When I use \Sexpr(rx) only the first value (in this case

Questions about xtable and print.xtable
I have been using the wonderful xtable package lately, in combination
with Sweave, and I have a couple of general questions along with a
more particular one.
I'll start with the particular question. I basically have a 1x3 array
with column names but no row names. I want to create a latex table
with column setting set to "|rrr|". I want the column names to
appear, but the
