Ceiling to the nearest ten?
R-users,
Is there a function for ceiling to the nearest ten?
a <- 1:10*4
a
[1] 4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40
The resulting vector should look like this ("ceiling to the nearest ten")
[1] 10 10 20 20 20 30 30 40 40 40
Thanks in advance

Select the last two rows by id group
Hi R-users,
Following this post http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/06/06/28965.html ,
how do I get last two rows (or six or ten) by id group out of the data
frame? Here the example gives just the last row.
Sincere thanks,
Lauri

Number of days in each month
Hi R-users,
What is the best way to achieve a table which contains all days and months
between years 2007-2020? I would like to calculate number of days in each
month within those years (to data frame).

Find missing days
Hi,
I have a data.frame like this:
y <- rnorm(60)
lev <- gl(3,20, labels=paste("lev", 1:3, sep=""))
date1 <- as.Date(seq(ISOdate(2007,9,1), ISOdate(2007,11,5),
by=60*60*24))
date1 <- date1[-c(3,4,15,34,38,40)]
df <- data.frame(lev=lev, date1=date1, y=y)
I would like to produce a new data.frame with missing days in df$date1
in each df$lev, like this:

Chopping a two column data frame by rows into a three dimensional array.
If I have a two column data frame like:
> dat <- cbind("x"=c(1:100),"y"=c(100:1))
How can I create an array that splits every ten rows of that data frame
into a third dimension of an array so that:
> newarray[,,1]
,,1
x y
1 100
2 99
3 98
... ...
10 91
,,2
x y
11 90

days between dates
Hello, I have some unbalanced panel data that is measured on weekdays only
(i.e., excluding Saturday and Sunday). I would like to get the number of
days between dates such that the number of days between a Friday and a
Monday is 1 (and not 3). Here is some code to illustrate my problem:

Subtract days to dates in POSIXct format
Hello,
I'm having problems working with date values in POSIXct format. Here is what I got (eg.lig attached):
x <- read.table("eg.txt", sep = ',', col.names=c("ok","time","secs","lig")) # it gives time as factor
z <- cbind(x,colsplit(x$time, split="\\s", names=c("date", "clock")))

lmerTest
Hi,
I'm trying to user lmer function from lmerTest package because, if I
understood correectly, it allows to make better inference than lmer method
from lme4 package. However, whatever I do I keep getting this error:
Error in lme4::lFormula(formula = mark ~ ssCount + sTime+ : rank of X =
1660 < ncol(X) = 1895
any ideas what could be a problem?
thanks,
Srecko

Rcpp and mclapply
Dear all,
I have an R script that uses Rcpp, and I have been trying to parallelize
it using mclapply (I tried with the multicore and the parallel library)
Sometimes (not always, interestingly), the CPU use for each core drops,
usually so that the total over all cores reaches 100%, i.e., as fast as if
using just one single core fully. I tried my code directly from within
emacs, and also using a

Cropping a matrix by rows
Hello r-help,
I've been banging my head against the computer in an attempt to learn how
to divide my matrix into segments by rows. I want to be able to return each
segment as a newly named object. I've tried looking at the apply functions
and creating a for loop but brain no work. Here's the basic starting
objects that I believe would be needed to separate the matrix.

How to create a random matrix with conditions
Hi!
I want to create a random matrix with 15 variables, each variable having
1000 observations.
Between each two variables, I want to define a specific (*not *random)
correlations between them, but still saving the "randomness" of each
variable (mean=zero, s.d=1).
How can I do this in R?
thanks,
Simon

How to get names of a list into df:s?
R users,
I have a simple lapply question.
g <- list(a=1:3, b=4:6, c=7:9)
g <- lapply(g, function(x) as.data.frame(x))
lapply(g, function(x) cbind(x, var1 = rep(names(g), each=nrow(x))[1:nrow(x)]))
I get
$a
x var1
1 1 a
2 2 a
3 3 a
$b
x var1
1 4 a
2 5 a
3 6 a
$c
x var1
1 7 a
2 8 a
3 9 a
And I would like to have
$a
x var1
1 1 a
2 2 a
3 3 a

counting values with some conditions in a simulation
Dear R users,
I am running simulations (1000), and in my simulation I am looking at
specific sums. For example, if the sum is >=4 then count this, if say <3,
then don't count, if the sum=3, then generate a random number from uniform
distribution, if this number is say less than 0.5, then count this sum, if
greater than 0.5, then don't count. I am having trouble with introducing

How to export text into separate text files

I'm producing text from my data.frame using cat function. I would like
to use for loop to export each column in my data.frame into separate

cat("\n")
cat("More text, More text, More text")
