Can't Load Text Files
Hi, I've completely forgotten how to do R, and it seems I can't even load simple files correctly. I have two tab deliminated text files (attached, these were test files of the larger data files I'm trying to work with) that I am trying to load into R so that I can merge them. They were originally excel files but I used "saved as" to reformat to text. I don't know if

chron problem: extracting days and years
Hello r-help, I'm trying to split a character vector of dates of the form "dd-mmm-yy" into component days, months and years. But > library(chron) > testdate<-as.POSIXlt(strptime("17-Sep-98","%d-%b-%y")) > testdate [1] "1998-09-17" > months(testdate) [1] "September" # which is fine, but for days and years I get >

How to....
Hi everyone, I am not new to R, but its been over a year since I've used it, so I don't remember how to do some things. I have a data set (in excel currently, but will be converted to text), that has date, country and price, with a price for every country for every date. I need to find the mean and median of the interval between price changes for each country and the mean and median

CLI command 'database deltree' doesn't remove family with space in its name
While playing with DB function in Dialplan, I have added some garbage in AstDB. These are some family names with space in them. more on date conversion differences in 2.2.1 vs 2.3.1
With dates I get different results with 2.2.1 and 2.3.1. From my somewhat naive point point of view, the 2.2.1 behaviour seems more sensible. Running the code below in 2.2.1: V1 2006-08-01 2006-08-01 1 1 With 2.3.1 I get: V1 1154354400 1154440800 1 1 # testdate.R t <- read.csv2('testdate.csv', header=FALSE) t$V1 <- as.POSIXct(t$V1)

Activation Functions in Package Neural
Hi, I am trying to build a VERY basic neural network as a practice before hopefully increasing my scope. To do so, I have been using package "neural" and the MLP related functions (mlp and mlptrain) within that package. So far, I have created a basic network, but I have been unable to change the default activation function. If someone has a suggestion, please advise. The goal of the

Tapply for Group Specific Means and Proportions
UseRs, I am working on a dataset (see small example below) where individuals were followed on a specific date-time combo and multiple repeated measurements were taken (e.g., height in meters, behavior class in 2 letter code). Observation numbers varied between individual (ranging from 1 observation for each date-time combo to >50) I am trying to summarize the data into 1 row per

Rearranging Data
Hi everyone, A few days back Jim helped with out, helping me find an automated way of determining the mean and median of intervals between price changes. However, a new set of data I have is no longer in the same format. CDSmod is the file that was used with this code: x <- read.csv('/cdsmod.csv', as.is=TRUE, check.names=FALSE) x$Date <- as.Date(x$Date, "%m/%d/%Y")

Wbinfo -Y couldn't work with idmap_rid for BUILTIN groups
Hi, wbinfo -Y BUILTIN\group can work without idmap_rid in Samba-3.0.14a. But I'm experiencing wbinfo -Y with idmap_rid failed for SID to GID conversion of BUILTIN groups. Since idmap_rid only works in a single domain, and captures workgroup's domain sid as a real domain sid in rid_idmap_get_domains(), when running "wbinfo -Y BUILTIN/System Operators", the function

Problem using reshape with missing values in idvar
Hello everybody, I have been recently using reshape to convert "long" data to "wide" data. Everything was going well until I reached some problematic datasets. It has taken me a couple of weeks to finally figure out what might be happening. The problem is reproducible with test cases, and on two versions of R (Windows 2.2.0 and x86-64 Fedora Core 3 R 2.2.0). The data

What I don't understand is that data as data.frame worked well for my other programs, how come I cannot make it run this time. Could you please tell me how I can fix it? ***************************************************************************************************

How to reuse my self function?
Dear all, I wrote a function test1 in test1.R. Right, I am writing another function test2 on test2.R and trying to use test1 function. How can I do? Is there any similar way like including test1.R in test2.R file? Thank You Very Much.
