Properly Parsing Pre-Superscripts & Displaying Them With grid.text
Hi all... I?m making a chart dealing with frequencies of isotopes of various elements. For instance, I'd like the following text to appear on a chart with the "35" and "37" as superscripts: Based upon: 35Cl: 75% 37Cl: 25% I am having problems properly parsing the superscript that preceeds the "Cl", since there is no character ahead of the superscript (I saw

Pointwise Confidence Bounds on Logistic Regression
Hi all. I hope I have my terminology right here... For a simple lm, one can add ?pointwise confidence bounds? to a fitted line using something like >predict(results.lm, newdata = something, interval = "confidence") (I'm following DAAG page 154-155 for this) I would like to do the same thing for a glm of the logistic regression type, for instance, the example in MASS pg

rggobi is crashing R-2.7.0
I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 and when I invoke rggobi the interactive graph displays but R crashes. See my sessionInfo() and a short example below. Ggobi and rggobi installed without complaints. Mark > sessionInfo() R version 2.7.0 Patched (2008-05-04 r45620) x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu locale:

latex, eps graphics and transparent colors
I have a diagram to be included in latex, where all my figures are .eps graphics (so pdflatex is not an option) and I want to achieve something like the following: three concentric filled circles varying in lightness or saturation. It is easiest to do this using transparency, but in my test using the postscript driver, the transparent color fills do not appear. Is it correct that postscript()

Colours for sunflowerplot
Dear fellow R users, I would like to draw a "sunflowerplot" because I have data (decade by month) that plots multiple times on the same x-y co-ordinates. Further I would like to colour each of the points/sunflower leaves on the plot according to the group they belong to (i.e. which type of event each represents within that decade and month). I thought that this would be relatively

boxplot and xlim confusion?
I have some code as shown below. Basically, I would like three boxplots to be set next to each other with no ylabels on the two "inner" plots, and I want the same x axis range on all three. However, it seems like boxplot does not respect the xlim setting. I've tried the various ways I thought would work (par, boxplot(...xlim=)) but none of them seem to work. I then tried plot.window,

Definition of "wrapper"?
I think I more or less understand what a ?wrapper? is, but I?d like to hear how more experienced R users define it, and especially I'd like to know if there is a formal definition. In my reading, it seems like there are a fairly wide range of meanings, but they are all conceptually similar. I've looked in a couple of the classic R texts, the extensions and developers' manuals, and R

Heatmap/Color Selection(Key)
Hi I made heatmap of QTL based on Lod score. Where I have traits in columns and marker data (rows). I can not cluster both column and rows as I need the right order for marker data. Can someone suggest me better way of generating heatmaps especially the colour key I want to select to visualize the results which are more interesting to look at. > library(gplots) >

grDevices::convertColor XYZ space is it really xyY?
grDevices::convertColor has arguments 'from' and 'to' which can take on value 'XYZ'. Can someone confirm that 'XYZ' is the same as the CIE chromaticity coordinates that are also sometimes refered to as 'xyY' in the literature? Or are these the CIE tristimulus values? It looks to me like the first case is true, but I would appreciate hearing from one of

Histograms: Lines and boxes
Hi folks! I'm trying to get a histogram legend to give me a filled box and a line. The problem is I keep getting both filled boxes and a line. How can I get rid of the second box from the code below? x<-rnorm(1000,mean=0,sd=1) hist(x, breaks = 50, main="Histogram of x",freq=FALSE, xlab=" x", ylab="Density",col="lightblue",

Ask for histogram
Hi, I use a vector of data to draw the histogram, but it is different from the graph by SAS. Can you check it for me please? b is a column vector of 4332 hist(b,probability=T,breaks=30,col='lightblue',ylim=c(0,1)) rug(b) When I used rug, I find the records are smaller than 4332. I don't know where I did wrong. Thanks. -- Yi Du [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Where are usages like "== 2L" documented?
Gurus: I keep seeing other people?s code that contain ideas like If (x == 2L) X[-1L] X - 1L I have some idea of what?s going on, but where is the use of concepts like ?2L? documented? RSvgDevice & sapply(plotmeans)
Hi, anybody know why this not works for several plots ? When i set onefile=T the plots are stacked one about another , onefile=F only the first plot is shown in AllbusMeansPlots.svg. [h2 is a data.frame] ......hist and sapply works for several plots nice with RSvgDevice ! Maybe setting the title after apply is a problem, but until yet i didn't found a better solution ? library(RSvgDevice)

Ayuda boxplot ggplot2

Lattice Version of grconvertX or variant on panel.text?
Still playing with Lattice... I want to use panel.text(x, y etc) but with x and y in plot coordinates (0,1), not user coordinates. I think if I had this problem with traditional graphics, I could use grconvertX to make the change. I did come across convertX {grid} but this doesn't seem to be what I need. Is there a function like grconvertX in Lattice, or is there a flag or some other

Replacing several rows of a matrix at once
Hello Folks. This must be a silly question with a (not) obvious (to me) answer. Consider this: tmp <- matrix(1:200, nrow = 20) vec <- 300:309 tmp[9,] <- vec # replacing one row works fine p <- c(3, 11, 17) tmp[p,] <- vec # replacing multple rows pastes the values down a column and recycles vec. What I want to do is replace multiple rows simultaneously at once. I suppose I can

Fitting long names in boxplot
I have the following code: subsetTimeDataPlot <- boxplot(subsetTimeData$time ~ subsetTimeData$build, horizontal=True, col="lightblue", ...) The 'names' component consists of strings that can be up to 20-30 characters long. How would I go about drawing the names vertically (not the boxplot) or shrinking the names text (I tried cex.names=0.7 but this didn't help).
