How to Read a Large CSV into a Database with R
Hi, I'm working in R 2.11.1 x64 on Windows x86_64-pc-mingw32. I'm trying to
insert a very large CSV file into a SQLite database. I'm pretty new to
working with databases in R, so I apologize if I'm overlooking something
obvious here.
I'm trying to work with the American Community Survey data, which is two
1.3GB csv files. I have enough RAM to read one of them into memory,

Import zpool from FreeBSD in OpenSolaris
I want to import my zpool''s from FreeBSD 8.0 in OpenSolaris 2009.06.
After reading the few posts (links below) I was able to find on the subject, it seems like it there is a differences between FreeBSD and Solaris. FreeBSD operates on directly on the disk and Solaris creates a partion and uses that... is that right? Is it impossible for OpenSolaris to use zpool''s from FreeBSD?

CentOS 3.1 update2 packages released
The CentOS 3.1 update2 packages have now been released.
They are available on mirror.centos.org and should be on all mirrors
within a few hours.
To update just run 'yum update'
Please bugzilla any problems.
There was a problem with the pam build in testing not being linked
against the laus library, so the released version is a .c0 so that anyone
who has installed the testing version

rpart and TREE, can be the same?
Hi, all,
I am wondering if it is possible to set parameters of 'rpart' and 'tree'
such that they will produce the exact same tree? Thanks.

Help with lrm function in package Design
Hi, there,
I am having trouble using 'lrm' function in package 'Design'. Basically,
the ' . ' after ' ~ ' wouldn't work. Here are some sample codes:

data.frame(a=c(rep(0,3),rep(1,3)),b=rnorm(6),c=c('a','b','c','a','b','c'))
> lrm(a~.,data=temp)

system unresponsive after issuing a zpool attach
Today I attempted to upgrade to S10_U2 and migrate some mirrored UFS SVM
partitions to ZFS.
I used Live Upgrade to migrate from U1 to U2 and that went without a
hitch on my SunBlade 2000. And the initial conversion of one side of the
UFS mirrors to a ZFS pool and subsequent data migration went fine.
However, when I attempted to attach the second side mirrors as a mirror
of the ZFS pool, all

How to move/reorganise existing e-mails to yearly subfolders
Hi all:
I am new to e-mail servers and I am evaluating Dovecot. Not really the best combination. 8-)
I am trying to find a balance between legal data retention requirements and online mailbox size. I do not want huge online mailboxes, as doing
offline, rotating data backups could then take forever (among other reasons). I would rather avoid online (cloud) backups (data protection etc.).

I am using function 'cph' in package 'Design'. I have run into this error

Could someone help me out? What kind of problem it is in my data set and
how to fix it?
Thanks a lot!

[PATCH] Revert "drm/qxl: drop prime import/export callbacks"
This reverts commit f4c34b1e2a37d5676180901fa6ff188bcb6371f8.
Simliar to commit a0cecc23cfcb Revert "drm/virtio: drop prime
import/export callbacks". We have to do the same with qxl,
for the same reasons (it breaks DRI3).
Drop the WARN_ON_ONCE().

importing data to SQLite database with sqldf
Hi all,
I am attempting to learn SQL through sqldf...
One task I am particularly interested in is merging separate
(presumably large) files into a single table without loading these
files into R as an intermediate step (by loading them into SQLite and
merging them there).
Taking a step back, I've considered these alternatives:
1) I know if I use straight SQLite commands I might use the
