xmlToDataFrame#Help!!!#follow-up
Dieter Menne pointed out that the (small) xml attachment didn't make it. Here is an in-line version (see end of message). Let's hope it works this time. I'm struggling with interpreting XML files created by ADODB as data.frames and I'm looking for advice. Note: This xlm contains a result set which comes from a rectangular data array. I've been trying to play with

SAS and RODBC
I am using R-2.10.1 binary from CRAN on a WinXP Pro system. I also use SAS v9.2 on the same box. I just started using the SAS ODBC driver that comes with version 9 of SAS. I have been able to set up an ODBC source for SAS datasets using the driver, and then with RODBC I am able to read a sample SAS dataset. > library(RODBC) > ch <- odbcConnect('sasodbc', believeNRows=FALSE)

How to sort TWO columns ?
Dear ALL, I fear my question has already been answered many times before, but I haven't fund that in archives... I am working on spatial datasets and, in most arrays I'm handling, there are two columns dedicated to (x,y)-coords. For different reasons - notably to draw image() plots, I need to have these two columns sorted in increasing order. But sort() and order() seem to apply to

Adding new columns to (output) data - e.g., read 5 cols write 8
Hello, I have the following task I'd like to accomplish: A file contains 5 columns of data (several hundred rows), let's call them a, b, c, d and e (ie these are their column headers) I also have a set of definitions, e.g., f = a + b g = a * 3 h = c + d etc. I would like to write out a new .rda file that contains columns a b c d e f g h etc. I.e. , the original data plus new columns

Sorting text docs based on document meta values in tm()
Hi all, I wonder if there's any way to reshuffle the text collection by the document meta values. For instance, if I have 5 documents that correspond to the following meta data: MetaID Sex Age 0 M 38 0 M 46 0 F 24 0 F 49 0 F 33 Can I reorder the text documents based on the ascending order of age? Thank you very much!! -- View

Comparing switchpoints from segmented
Hello everyone Not strictly an R question but close... hopefully someone will be able to help. I wish to compare the switchpoints in two switchpoint regressions. The switchpoints were estimated using the segmented library running in R, and I have standard errors for the estimates. I initially thought I could just bootstrap confidence intervals for the difference between the switchpoints,

How to identify the two largest peaks in a trimodal distribution
Hello all I'm trying to do a simulation that involves identifying the minimum point between two peaks of a (usually) bimodal distribution. I can do this easily if there are only two peaks: CnBdens<-density(Ys/Xs) #probability density function for ratio of Ys to Xs for(p in 1:512) ifelse(CnBdens$y[p]>CnBdens$y[p-1],peak1<-p,break) #identifies first peak in probability

Merge records in the same dataframe
Hi: Suppose that I have a data frame as below x1 x2 x3 ... x10 wk1 wk2 ... Wk208 (these are the column names) For each record, x1, x2, x3 ... x10 are attributes. and wk1, wk2, ..., wk208 are the sales recoreded for this attribute combination. Suppose that now, that I want to do the following 1. Merge the data frame so that I have a new data frame grouped by values of x2 and x3 (for example).
