Plotting coloured histograms...
Hi, I am having some trouble trying to plot a histogram in more than one colour. What I want to do is, plot two vectors in the same histogram, but with different colours, for instance: > x <- rnorm(1000,20,4); > y <- rnorm(1000,10,2); Then I'd like to have x and y ploted on the same hist (I can do that already doing w <- c(x,y) then hist(w)) but the bars

Find peaks in histograms / Analysis of cumulative frequency
Hello all, I have some histograms of amount of DNA in some cells (DU145 cells overexpressing Bax and Bcl-xL for those who wish to know). The histograms show not only two peaks as expected, but three, indicating that some cells have more than normal amounts of DNA. I am interested in knowing how much of the cell populations are in each peak as well as between. I am not really sure how to go

Lattice: arbitrary abline in multiple histograms
Dear list. I have three histograms and I want to add a vertical abline in a different place in each plot. The next example will plot a vertical line at x=5.5 in the three plots: rnorm(100,5,3) -> A rnorm(100,7,3) -> B rnorm(100,4,1) -> C rep(c("A","B","C"),each=100) -> grp data.frame(G=grp,D=c(A,B,C)) -> data histogram(~ D | G, data=data,

Add a density line to a cumulative histogram - second try
Hi list, this is my second try for first post on this list (I tried to post via email and nothing appeared in my email-inbox, so now I try to use the nabble-web-interface) - I hope that you will only have to read one post in your inbox! Okay, my question ... I was able to plot a histogram and add the density()-line to this plot. I was able to plot a cumulative form of this histogram. Yet, I was

Lattice: Superimposing histograms with different colors and transparency effects
Dear users, I would like to plot several histograms superimposed on the same panel with different colors, with superimposed polygons appearing with transparency effects. I also want estimated densities to appear on the same plot. For several reasons, including that I like it, I want to use the lattice package. I have several questions regarding the use of the 'histogram' function with a

Groups in histograms?
Dear list, I would like to create histograms for up to three groups, with distincive colour/pattern, in a trellis panel. However, I have not been able to find a way to do this. histogram does not seem to have a group argument. Please help. /Fredrik

Plotting irregular grid as image or persp
Hi, I have an array of 2d node locations and an array triangles, and would like to plot something like a image or persp. An example of doing it with rgl is: library(ncdf) library(rgl) # wget http://www.maplepark.com/~drf5n/extras/teapot.nc teapot<-open.ncdf("teapot.nc") z<-get.var.ncdf(teapot,"tris") l<-get.var.ncdf(teapot,"locations")

Defining a viewport scale in {Grid}
Am just feeling my way into the grid library, and cannot figure out how to define the plot limits. 3/5 of the example polygons below plot in the default 0-1 range viewport. But when I try to redefine the viewport the polygons plot in the same places. I also get the same result without employing push/pop. (As you can see from the scale I'm trying to introduce, I want to plot map polygons.)

align xyplot
Dear R users, I'm using xyplot to obtain a graph about a correlation x~y for different years (a categoric variable). The program dispose automatically the graphs in this way: 2010 2007 2008 2009 2004 2005 2006 2001 2002 2003 1998 1999 2000 Which code should I use to obtain this sequance of graphs? 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 I have tried with

Cannot save histogram picture when run from script
Hi, I am faced with a strange problem. My picture file is empty when the following statements were run from R script. But the picture file shows up correctly, when the commands are individually run from Rgui. png(file="histogram_correlation.png", bg = "white") require(stats) histogram( ~ height | voice.part, data = singer, nint = 17, endpoints = c(59.5, 76.5),

histogram method for S4 class.
Hi, I'm trying to develop an histogram method for a class called "FLQuant" which is used by the package FLCore (http://flr-project.org). FLQuant is an extension to "array". There is an as.data.frame method that coerces flquant into a data.frame suitable for lattice plotting. The problem is that when I coerce the object and plot it after it works but if the method is

Multiple formula in one block
Hi Everybody: I want to draw some chart using command "histogram" and add another curve in it. Example: require(stats) data(singer) library(lattice) histogram( ~ height | voice.part, data = singer, nint = 17, endpoints = c(59.5, 76.5), layout = c(2,4), aspect = .5, xlab = "Height (inches)") Now I got a chart of 8 blocks, then I need add :"

Lattice Histogram Scaling
My apologies, the data can now be found at: url <- "http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~roger/research/ebayes/velo.d" x <- scan(url,skip = 1) If I could get each of the histograms to mimic what is produced by hist(x, 100, freq = FALSE) I?ve experimented with xlim, ylim, without success so far... url: www.econ.uiuc.edu/~roger Roger Koenker email rkoenker at uiuc.edu

Currency symbols in Xtick or Ytick labels
How do you label Xtick and Ytick marks with Currency symbols: $2000 instead of 2000? I would like to add dollar symbols to tickmarks on boxplots, histograms and back-to-back histograms. My Examples (requiring the lattice and Hmisc packages): data(case0102, package="Sleuth2") str(case0102) boxplot(Salary~Sex, case0102) histogram(~ Salary | Sex, data=case0102) require(Hmisc) #

Superposed histograms
I woud like to plot cumulative histograms. Specifically, I have data like Sex M M F M F F M F Height 6 6.3 6.1 5.5 7.2 6.2 5.9 6.0 .... and I want to plot a histogram of the distribution of all heights, colouring the histogram bars according to sex, for example | o | oo o | o oo ** o o = observations of women | o o*o***o * = observations of
