Beginner stucked with raster + geoR package.
Hello everyone. I am trying to build up understanding in R by trying to develop just some simple scenarios. I would like to explain you what I am trying to do and what I did so far. I would like to put inside a RasterLayer (raster package) a Gaussian field (for given covariance) using grf function (geoR package) 1. First I created a Raster Layer object r <- raster() # Default values are

paste and path ?
Dear friends. I have trobpe with path. Below I have tried to paste a path and file name but it will not work > path <- "D:/rw0641/own/own/procedures/GFR_TIME" > path [1] "D:/rw0641/own/own/procedures/GFR_TIME" > path1 <- paste(path,"gfr.txt",sep="/") > path1 [1] "D:/rw0641/own/own/procedures/GFR_TIME/gfr.txt" -- this is good

Hello all, I am trying to create a grid of large number of points 4096*4096, on processing the data I am writing it into a file. phi <- 0.5 N <- 4096 mu <- 90 sim<-grf(N*N,grid="reg",cov.model="spherical",cov.pars=c(1,phi),method="RF") sim$data <- (sim$data - mean(sim$data)) / sd(sim$data) local <- array(sim$data, dim=c(N,N)) sysvar <- local *

How to generate a random field with truncated marginal distributions?
I have asked the same question on stackoverflow but did not get a satisfying answer. I am trying to simulate a lognormal spatial random field but I need the simulated value in a certain range. So I need some easy to use functions to generate a truncated Gaussian field to start with. To be specific, I need a function like GaussRF from the RandomFields package or grf from the geoR package to

Bug in optim - way to solve problem?
Hi, I want to automatically fit variograms to a large number of different sample data sets, and call the funtion "likfit" (in package geoR) from within a for-loop. "likfit" does again call "optim". After ssuccessfully fitting variograms to some of the data sets, the procedure crashes and I get the error message: Error in optim(par = ini, fn = negloglik.GRF,

Wine Ragnarok private server help
Been on linux (ubuntu 9.10) for about a month now. Starting to get the hang of it. The only thing from windows I am missing is being able to play this game. I've read a lot of stuff on the net and tried different things. Some say i need to trick the ip but I am unable to figure out the server IP address. A lot of private servers have certain things in place to prevent hacking, so I think

autocorrelation test
Hi all, I would like to test the relevance of a vector field (i.e. if the vectors are organized or not). To do so, I would like to use an autocorrelation test, so that I have two questions: - is the Watson test applicable to that perpuse ? - is the kuiper test applicable to that purpuse ? [OT] colors in a LaTex doc
Dear R People: I know that this is COMPLETELY off topic. Does anyone know how to put colors into a LaTex document, please? This is LaTex via WinEdt. I can get colors via PcTex but not in WinEdt. Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Erin Hodgess Associate Professor Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences University of Houston - Downtown mailto: hodgess at gator.uhd.edu

Connection problems and weird WinSock warnings...
Hiya, I've posted this 'enigma' on the newsgroup : http://groups-beta.google.com/group/comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine/browse_thread/thread/57dcb7531ebfb529/65018c77a5e58651#65018c77a5e58651 The answers were pretty rare so I post the problem here, too. listof
Dear R developers A question about the class 'listof', defined in package 'stats'. Other than its definition and use in the code for 'anova', we can't see that the class 'listof' is used for anything else (in recommended packages, or elsewhere). In the spatstat package we have been using a 'listof' to represent a list of spatial objects of the same

Best way to extract values from an aov object ?
I'm trying to write a function to automate doing a variance analysis, part of which involves doing some further calculations. The method I've been using isn't very robust, if variable names change then it stops working. For this dummy data > dput(assayvar,"") structure(list(Run = structure(c(1L, 1L, 1L, 2L, 2L, 2L, 3L, 3L, 3L, 4L, 4L, 4L), .rk.invalid.fields =

How to get out the t-test value matrix for a linear regression ?
Hi, all I've written some R script to calculate the linear regression of a matrix. Here below is my script: >x<-matrix(scan("h:/data/xxx.dat",0),nrow=46,ncol=561,byrow=TRUE) >year <- NULL >year <- cbind(year,as.matrix(x[,1])) >lm.sol<-lm(x~year) >xtrend<-coef(lm.sol)[2,] # get the matrix of regression coefficient >t.test<- ?

Question on CAR appendix on NLS
The PDF file on the web, which is an appendix on nonlinear regression associated with the CAR book, is very nice. When I ran through the code presented there, I found something odd. The code does a certain model in 3 ways: Vanilla NLS (using numerical differentation), Analytical derivatives (where the user supplies the derivatives) and analytical derivatives (using automatic differentiation). The
