How can I avoid the warning messages when calling DAAG package?
Dear R users,
I'm a newbie for R and want to ask some basic questions.
So, after I open the R software, I typed library(DAAG). Then, I get massive
warning messages as shown below.
Why does it happen?
Also, here are few specific questions regarding each message.
1) Loading required package: MASS -> Does this mean that the MASS package
is not included in DAAG?
2) Attaching package:

Different sings for correlations in OLS and TSA
Dear list,
I am trying to re-analyse something. I do have two time series, one
of which (ts.mar) might help explaining the other (ts.anr). In the
original analysis, no-one seems to have cared about the data being
time-series and they just did OLS. This yielded a strong positive
correlation.
I want to know if this correlation is still as strong when the
autocorrelations are taken into account.

How to write a loop in R to select multiple regression model and validate it ?
I would like to run a loop in R. I have never done this before, so I would be
very grateful for your help !
1. I have a sample set: 25 objects. I would like to draw 1 object from it
and use it as a test set for my future external validation. The remaining 24
objects I would like to use as a training set (to select a model). I would
like to repeat this process until all 25 objects are used as a

Failure to get compactPDF to compact a pdf file
I am failing to get compactPDF to make any change to a pdf file
that, a/c to the message from the CRAN upload site, can be very
substantially compacted. Any ideas what may be wrong?
I have also tried recreating the pdf file. I also tried
R CMD build --resave-data --compact-vignettes DAAG
The data files compact alright (but I get the 'significantly better compression'

Suggest patch for princomp.formula and prcomp.formula
Dear all,
perhaps I am using princomp.formula and prcomp.formula in a way that
is not documented to work, but then the documentation just says:
formula: a formula with no response variable.
Thus, to avoid a lot of typing, it would be nice if one could use '.'
and '-' in the formula, e.g.
> library(DAAG)
> res <- prcomp(~ . - case - site - Pop - sex, possum)

Saving 3d objects vs. pausing in non-interactive (scripted) mode
I am using the RGL library in scripted (non-interactive) mode, but wish to
give the data analyst an opportunity to exam the 3D plots. The "data
analysts" understand the data, but not R. My intent is to provide simple
Windows (XP) batch files that call R and automatically pass scripts to it,
and thus permit the analyst to easily access graphics without having to cut
and paste commands

k-folds cross validation with conditional logistic
--begin inclusion --
I have a matched-case control dataset that I'm using conditional
logistic regression (clogit in survival) to analyze. I'm trying to
conduct k-folds cross validation on my top models but all of the
packages I can find (CVbinary in DAAG, KVX) won't work with clogit
models. Is there any easy way to do this in R?

The clogit funciton is simply a

The sources (Guy 1882 & Stocks 1942) are documented in the
.Rd files:

xyplot with different symbols and colors?
Dear List,
I try to make a xyplot with different colors and symbols, I came this far:
library(DAAG)
xyplot(csoa~it|sex*agegp,data=tinting,groups=target,pch=list(1,2),auto.key=list(space
= "right"))
this produces a plot with different colors and symbols but unfortunately
the legend does only follow the color scheme and not the different symbols.
Any suggestions what to change?

How to overlap two density plots?
Hi,
How can I overlap two density plots?
A <- c(8,10,10,11,11,11,12,12,12,12,11,11,11,10,10,7)
B <- c(11,13,13,14,14,14,15,15,15,15,14,14,14,13,13,10)
plot(density(A))
plot(density(B))
Regards,
Emre
P.S. There's a overlap.density function in package DAAG
Is there another way to do this?

cv.lm() broken; cross validation vs. predict(interval="prediction")
<< repost because previous attempt was not plain text, sorry! >>
Hi Folks,
I have a pretty simple problem: after building a multivariate linear model,
I need to report my 95% confidence interval for predictions based on future
observations.
I know that one option is to use predict(interval="prediction") but
I'm curious about less parametric ways to get an estimate.
I
