improvement of Ancova analysis
Dear Helpers, I just started working with R and I'm a bit overloaded with information. My data is from marsupials reindroduced in a area. I have weight(wt), hind foot lenghts(pes) as continues variables and origin and gender as categorial. condition is just the residuals i took from the model. > names(dat1) [1] "wt" "pes" "origin" "gender"

vector of NA indices
I have a vector Pes with 600 elements some of which are NA's. How can I form a vector of the indices of the NA's. for(i in 1:600) if(is.na(Pes[i])) print(i) prints the indices of the NA's but I can't figure out how to put the results in a vector. Thank you very much. Peter B. -- Peter B. Mandeville mandevip at deimos.tc.uaslp.mx Jefe del Depto. de

which() does not handle NAs in named vectors. (PR#226)
Version: platform = sparc-sun-solaris2.6 arch = sparc os = solaris2.6 system = sparc, solaris2.6 status = status.rev = 0 major = 0 minor = 64.2 year = 1999 month = July day = 3 language = R -- It is unclear to me that the handling of NAs is desirable, and it has problems with names: > z <- c(T,T,NA,F,T) > names(z) <- letters[1:5] > which(z) Error: names attribute

Classic fail-safe N
Hi all, I was conducting a meta-analysis of single proportions(i.e. without a control group) using the metafor package. When I performed a classic fail-safe N, I noticed that the result (the number of missing studies that would bring p-value to the alpha, to be exact)was different than that I got in Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Version 2.0. I wonder why R and CMA got different results. *Below is

Backup live system
Though I've worked with enterprise systems, I'm not familiar with FOOS backup software. Which of those recommended would allow me to backup a system while users are active on it? If it matters the system uses LVM. I'd also like to be able to avoid needing the network if possible. That is, I'd plug in a disk into a USB port and backup the system onto that... again, while

I can't remove wine applications!
Hi there! I have a serious issue! I tried installing a game (PES 2010) and then, because it was not running, I decided to remove the application and upgrading to wine 1.1.33. So I did and then I restarted setup.exe, but now it brings me to the unistall prompt of the game, as if I had pes installed yet! To remove it, I oreviously used the "remove wine apps" tool, but after that the game

LVM thin volumes fstrim operation not supported
Hi All I'm trying to setup my LVM thin pool to support discards so that the pool can reclaim space even if the underlying device doesn't support trim. It is my understanding that all thin pools should support trim even if the underlying device doesn't. (please correct me if I'm wrong here) I have one centos server that does support trim and everything is working correctly but any

Gamepad missing buttons
I am trying to use a Guillemot gamepad with PES6 but the buttons are not recognized. In kubuntu system settings I can see my pad, callibrate the joysticks and see the buttons are recognized, but not inside wine (only the joysticks are recognized). I have tried different combinations for the DirectInput entry in the registry but either I have not stumbled upon the correct one or there is another

General direct input problem
Hi I've noticed that my gamepad doesn't work on all games requiring a native xinput_3.dll to run (bioshock, racedriver, pes...) but it works with certain games like "trackmania" maybe there's an enhencement needed to get it working Is there's something to do ? What is the difference between xinput and direct input ? There's some optional regedit dinput option :

LVM thin volumes fstrim operation not supported
I still get the "the discard operation is not supported" fstrim error when the LVs are set to "nopassdown" Seems that when I use ext4 the fstrim reports that it worked but the LVs Data% does not decrease after the fstrim. xfs just throws the error. I've also been looking at the output of lsblk -D # lsblk -D NAME DISC-ALN DISC-GRAN DISC-MAX DISC-ZERO xvdb

managing config changes
Hi, I am looking for a way, i.e. best practice for managing config changes safely and efficiently. Something like clever module organization could certainly help, but I am looking for something else as well: Is it possible to set up puppetd in a way, that it just listens and reports, but does not apply config changes automatically, and in the same time has the ability to trigger it somehow?

[LLVMdev] Visual Studio 2012 cl.exe ICE while building LLVM for x64 (in TableGen) at -O2
As an update to this: http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/769222/cl-exe-ice-when-building-llvm-trunk-at-o2 Microsoft has reproduced the ICE, given a workaround, and is planning a fix for a future MSVC release. I know not a lot of people are building with VS, but it's nice to know. The workaround involves marking a single function with attribute((noinline)) and is

[PATCH 0/4] Fixes for virt-resize
Fixes for both of these bugs: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=633096 virt-resize calculates block device size incorrectly, doesn't work with qcow2 target https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=633766 virt-resize --shrink fails I'm still doing testing on these, but the patches seem good enough to review.
