lattice levelplot axis ticks labels
Hello, I've searched for help a lot and think I am close, but an still not able to place ticks and labels how I'd like in lattice's levelplot. I've come up with general reproducible code that gives the same problem as I'm having with real data: heat <- array(1:24,c(3,8)) require (lattice) ##basically I want a graph like this. depth y axis doesn't have ticks and

Kind of 2 dim histogram - levelplot
Dear R-List, I've written some code to put measurement values at a position x and y in bins (xb and yb). It works, but I wonder if there isn't a function that would do what I do by hand in "# fill data in bins"? Here is the code: # data x <- c( 1.1, 1.5, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 2.9, 3.3, 3.5 ) y <- c( 6.3, 6.2, 5.9, 5.3, 5.4, 4.2, 4.8, 4.6 ) val <- c( 50, 58, 32, 14, 12,

AIC in glm.fit with intercept
Dear R users, glm.fit() gave me the same AIC's regardless of TRUE or FALSE intercept option. > myX <- as.matrix(1:10) > myY <- 3+5*myX > foo <- glm.fit(x=myX, y=myY, family = gaussian(link = "identity"), intercept=TRUE) > foo$aic [1] 38.94657 > foo <- glm.fit(x=myX, y=myY, family = gaussian(link = "identity"), intercept=FALSE) > foo$aic [1]

dynamically add items to key of lattice xyplot
Hi all, is it possible to dynamically add key items to an already existing key, belonging to a lattice xyplot? This is what I do: I make an xyplot with an initial key. Later on, I want to extend this key with more items, as more lines are added to the plot (lines are added using trellis.focus("panel")). I guess I need some function to access the key panel in order to extend it,

Lattice xyplot log scale labels help!
I have a problem with lattice log scales that I could use some help with. I'm trying to print log y-axis scales without exponents in the labels. A similar thread with Deepayan' recommendation is here: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e11/help/10/09/9865.html. For example, this code using xyplot produces a logged y-axis but the labels (e.g. "10^1.2") are not very

storing matrices in a list or vector and preserve dimensions
Hi all, As an R newbie, I wonder how I can store multiple matrices in a list() or vector() object without losing their structure. I should be able to retrieve the matrix from the list later on. If I just append() the matrices to a list() object, they automatically lose their dimensions, whereas I would like to preserve the dimensions of the matrices. Is there any function in R which allows

control of scat1d tick color in plot.Predict?
Hi All, I have a quick question about using plot.Predict now that the rms package uses lattice. I'd like to add tick marks along the regression line, which is given by data=llist(variablename) in the plot call. The ticks show up fine, but I'd like to alter the color. I know the ticks are produced by scat1d, but after spending a fair bit of time going through documentation, it still

How to set read.table variables to vectors?
The summary stats for the xin and yin variables below are correct. However, if I use plot(xin,yin), an exception is thrown saying that "object xin is not found." Also, it is apparent that I can't successfully replace the x and y vectors with values from xin and yin. The four plots on one panel are showing but the range of x and y is only [0,1], and therefore, it seems like an

Different gridlines per panel in xyplot
In the example R script below, horizontal gray gridlines are drawn at y coordinates where the points are drawn with the code: panel.abline(h=y, v=xScale, col.line="gray") How do I change this so that the horizontal gray gridlines are drawn at y coordinates where the y labels are drawn? The challenge is that each panel has different y-ranges (in my real example the y-ranges and

Spacing between lattice panels
I'm trying to set up a lattice plot with two y-axes for each panel. (Yes, I know that multiple y-axes are generally a bad idea; the graph is for someone else and they want it that way.) I've used a custom yscale.component in xyplot to achieve this: myyscale.component <- function(...) { ans <- yscale.components.default(...) ans$right <- ans$left foo <-

barchart() {Lattice} -- auto.key()
Hi R Users, I'm using following data/code (data is also attached) to produce a stacked barplot. *I need help with changing legend boxes, currently I'm using "rectangles=TRUE". Is it possible to get small squares instead -- may be with a small gap between colored squares.* Currently there is no gap between the colored rectangles. # Sample Data: Names Col1 Col2 Col3 Row1 -20 40

animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it. A very simple example of what I need: ##============================================================================== library(grid) grid.newpage() pushViewport(plotViewport()) pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)), yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)))) grid.xaxis() grid.yaxis()

Lattice : Single reference line/label at 0.05
r-friends-- I am trying to make a lattice plot with a single label at 0.05. A reference line at y=0.05 as well... This is what I have so far. The label reads 0.0 and there is a grid instead of a single reference line. Can someone help please? Troy x<-18:35 (pv<-1/(x-17)) xydf<-data.frame(x, pv) print(xyplot(pv~x, data=xydf, type=c('p', 'g'), ylim=c(0,1),

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Thanks Jeff, I attached a file with the program to my earlier email because the posting guide seemed to imply that non-binary attachments would work. But I see that the file was stripped off. I installed the program file on a web site, but when I downloaded it, the line breaks were stripped out. So I've included the program below: ------------------------------------------------------- #

xyplot second y-xis and legend
Dear list, I try to set a secondary y-axis in a lattice xyplot. This works. However, I am unable to set a proper legend/key together with the 2nd y-axis under general xyplot procedures. See example below. The combination of the par.settings with simpleTheme and other settings seems to go wrong. I couldn't find a solution from previous topics. Any suggestions? thanks in advance! cannot find function "simpleRDA2"
Hi, I am trying to run the command "forward.sel.par," however I receive the error message: "Error: could not find function 'simpleRDA2'." I have the vegan library loaded. The documentation on "varpart" has not helped me to understand why I cannot call this function. Maybe I am missing something obvious because I am still an 'R' novice. Below is a

Using dates on axis with Grid plots
Hi, I'm trying to use Grid plots and would like to have an X axis that represents dates. I have several years of data so I would like to be able to have labeled tick marks only intermittently (not one per date). I can transform the initial data from a date time string into POSIXlt or POSIXct, or Date objects. The issue is that when I try to layout the plot using: dev.off() pushViewport(

xyplot lattice fine control of axes limits and thick marks (with log scale)
After a long and winding road (sorry but I'm a novice) I get to a final result which is quite close to what I need; nevertheless I would like to tweak a little further the xyplot so that I can get ***for each single panel defined by variable z*** a finer control over: -the x and y the limits: I would like to be the same for both axes; -the number of thick marks: again I would like to be same

question about 'coef' method and fitted_value calculation
Dear all, I am trying to calculate the fitted values using a ridge model (lm.ridge(), MASS library). Since the predict() does not work for lm.ridge object, I want to get the fitted_value from the coefficients information. The following are the codes I use: fit = lm.ridge(myY~myX,lambda=lamb,scales=F,coef=T) coeff = fit$coef However, it seems that "coeff" (or "fit$coef") is
